Hot Summer Nothing

Hot summer nights... Wasn't that the name of a Neil Diamond album? And when the weather is like this, we should be enjoying the evenings in happy communion with friends. Instead, thanks to Corona, we commune not at all.

But still, life goes on, and when it's still over 30°C and it's time to start both the dough for the sourdough rolls for Saturday's market and supper, only a salad will do.

Tomatoes from the garden, dressed with chiffonade of basil, garlic chives, apple cider vinegar and olive oil. Seasoned with salt and pepper and topped with hard boiled eggs.

Then it was make your own with a green salad of lettuce and cucumber and cabbage pickle on the side. The Husband added two potatoes and we both agreed that next time, we'd lose the pickle. It's great, but just not with this meal.

It's been a crazy couple of busy and frustrating days of lots and nothing going on. I am looking forward to a day in the kitchen. Batches of rolls and koeksisters (sold 60+ last week), peach chutney and andalusian Gazpacho are all on the agenda.

Possibly some of evidence of today's industry, tomorrow.
Until next time, be well

Heat has been oppressive the last couple of days, when it breaks most definitely will arrive with lightening again. Sourdough and koeksister baking not ideal to be the baker at this time of the year, stands to reason both sell well.

    Have a wonderful weekend Fiona.
