A green orange and mint smoothie is a refreshing and healthy drink that's vegan, gluten-free, and sugar-free. It combines fresh greens, citrus, and mint for a burst of flavor and nutrients. This smoothie is perfect for breakfast, a midday pick-me-up, or a post-workout refreshment. Here's a simple recipe for making a green orange and mint smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large orange, peeled and segmented
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup fresh spinach or kale
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or your favorite plant-based milk)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flaxseeds (optional, for extra fiber and nutrients)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for a colder smoothie)

Instructions:

  1. Add the Ingredients to a Blender: In a high-speed blender, combine the orange segments, banana, fresh mint leaves, fresh spinach or kale, unsweetened almond milk, and chia seeds or flaxseeds if desired. You can also add a handful of ice cubes if you prefer a colder smoothie.

  2. Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until all the ingredients are well combined and the smoothie is smooth. You might need to stop and scrape down the sides to ensure everything is blended evenly.

  3. Adjust Consistency: If the smoothie is too thick, add a bit more almond milk and blend again. If it's too thin, add more ice cubes or a bit of extra banana to thicken it up.

  4. Serve and Enjoy: Pour the smoothie into a glass and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint if desired. Serve immediately.

This green orange and mint smoothie is a refreshing and healthy way to start your day or enjoy a snack. It's packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber from the fresh greens and fruits. The mint adds a burst of flavor that complements the citrusy orange and creamy banana. If you'd like more vegan, gluten-free, or sugar-free smoothie recipes, I can share additional ideas. Enjoy your green orange and mint smoothie!

Curated for #naturalmedicine by @justinparke.

Some people won't give green smoothies a chance just because of the color, but I've learned not to judge a book by its cover. It doesn't take much green ingredients to turn the whole smoothie green, but rarely is the taste compromised.
