My DIY Tool

I'm terrific with my hands, but this tool does a better job because it's stimulating and the special effect that comes from the beads is pleasing.

beads.jpg

These magnetic beads rotate and help to release toxins from the body, and I find it more manageable to do a massage on myself using this hand massager.
I'm quite new at performing massages on myself, but after the second time, I got a better grip and manoeuvred my hands and hand massager effectively and safely.

oil.jpg

Using oils while massaging is great for gliding, and soothing, and oils can be extremely relaxing, especially if you're using organic or aromatherapy oils.
I've chosen this oil above because of its self-warming properties and slimming effect.

The self-massage that has been my focus for the past few days is a slimming massage with an emphasis on my tummy.
My system has been sluggish and I have been feeling a little lethargic, so this massage has been helping me to deal with my fluid retention and bloating.

I've been combining these massages with some reflexology, which help to aid with releasing toxins from my body, and they are lovely me-time activities to indulge in.

reflex.jpg

For doing my tummy massages

  • I've been lying flat on my back on my yoga mat. That's a good form of support for my back, and I get to place it right next to the radiator so that I am comfortable and warm. Still, you could do it on your bed, that works for me too.

  • It's important to do a tummy massage on an empty stomach, so first thing in the morning works perfectly.

  • I like a relaxing setting, so I wear an eye mask, close the curtains, and listen to some relaxing sounds from my cordless headset. You could light candles around you if you like.

  • Once comfortable, I rub my hands together to warm them.

  • Then I interlock my hands and place them on my tummy, palms down, and take deep breaths and relax.

hands.jpg

It's important to be relaxed while doing massages, but make sure to take note of any discomfort that you might feel, and you could just reduce the pressure on those areas.

  • I then rub my tummy by doing long strokes in a circular motion with my oiled hands, and I repeat 3 times.

fingers.jpg

  • This positioning of the fingers are vital for accurate movement, for applying pressure to the tummy, but I alternate and use the yellow massager, for ease.

There is a special technique to use if your intention is for reducing fat from the tummy, but for now, I'm only doing circular motions between the sternum and my navel for relaxation, and to help with the flow of energy there. This stimulates my bowel movement and makes my body feel lighter and less bloated.

My love for massages and many other complementary therapies is undying, and becoming a masseuse is something that I came very close to investing in. However, right before parting with my money and signing up for a course, I was bombarded with "what ifs".

  • what if someone with offensive body odour presents themself to me?
  • do I want to be rubbing oils all over strangers' naked bodies?
  • what if a drop-dead gorgeous muscular guy presents himself to me? Would I be professional?

I'd be the ever-vigilant professional!

Still, I decided against going down the massage therapist path. Plus, I'm slightly OCD and extremely particular about cleanliness, washing my hands and that kind of thing, so I scratched that dream.
Over the years though, I keep going back to studying physiotherapy and I do keep abreast with new chiropractic and physiotherapy exercises, which I find help with my posture, core, and spinal health.

Would a massage course for my personal use help? Maybe. Also, I think it could be an option for me to probably offer private massages at home when I have a more permanent place that I call home.

Thoughts are buzzing in my head. I will give an update on the improvements I'm getting from my tummy massages.
A video would be nice, don't you think? I need to figure out a way to do a video without making my post fall into the NSFW category, but it's possible because these massages can be done anywhere. Probably when it's warmer outside, I might pack my camera and go to a park, I think I'd be more relaxed doing a massage outdoors in a park than in the woods.

Note: Massages are great physical couple activities, but can you make a separation? Have you ever prepared yourself mentally for a relaxing massage with your partner, and got deviated?
I think that's a common situation that couples find themselves in. That's one of the reasons why I think having a self-massage could be the next big thing.

I wonder what the postman could have been thinking.🙃
Still, I was surprised that it only came bubble wrapped and not in a box.

How I wish I have this tool for massage at home. Sad to say that 11 months ago, I had a medial cuneiform fracture, I thought it would be the end of my normal life while thinking that I have chances of being disable.

Honestly, at the moment, I am feeling the aches and it is not totally healed. So every week, I am asking a reflexologist to come in our house. Even if the fracture was on the lower part, it seemed that all my legs were affected so massage and reflex are really my needs.

I so love that DIY tool that you have in your house dear Milly. And it seems that your massage oil is so relaxing. So clever of you to combine both and come up with great results. As for me, I am using Thai rubs and oils. What I love about their products is that being full of herbs that can really be seen on the bottle and they are soothing as well.

Have a nice time and best regards to you dear. I hope you are feeling well. !PIZZA

I am using Thai rubs and oils.

Hmm, I like the sound of that. I think my morning routine just got longer 😍

I'm sorry to hear about your injury. Feet are so important, and I am particular about my feet as I cannot cope with any discomfort there. I'm glad that you have been having those reflexology treatments. Reflexology is an old remedy. I first had a professional one in my early twenties, and I marvelled at the discoveries the therapist made in my body just from my feet. I was able to go and do some ultrasounds and get on top of some underlying health problems.

I never underestimate the power of massage and alternative remedies. That's why I'm seriously considering doing that course that I've been delaying for the last 2 decades.

All good wishes in improved health and I hope there's not too much discomfort still🙏

So true, dear. I always believe that happy hormones are released in our body every time our body is massaged. So in one way or another, it is also a stress reliever for me.

I remember way back in College, when I was 17 years old, there was a plaza there that had full of stones, and it is shaped liked the beads you have in your reflex tool. Can you imagine a plaza full of stones and then all of us being bare foot? That was really fun together with my friends, hehe.

By the way, thank you so much for the well wishes and for your attention. I so appreciate it. Have a wonderful day!

Can you imagine a plaza full of stones and then all of us being barefoot?

Really? That sounds like a quirky place. Yes, happy hormones are released during massages. Make use of the different ones available there in the Philippines. When I first arrived, I started having therapeutic massages by the blind massage therapists in the city, then after that, I checked out all different kinds of parlours in Moalboal and Cebu City.😍

Awww, I did not know that you have been in the Philippines once. Yes, Cebu is a very beautiful place and the blind massages are so famous with all the parlors there. As well as Panglao Island in Bohol which is a beautiful tourist spot also near Cebu.

Maybe, I was not yet in Hive at those moments you posted your shared moments about your travel in the Philippines, hehe.

And I recently discovered about Scuba, your dearest. I happened to pass by on one of his posts and you were mentioned and then I saw a beautiful younger you portrait displayed there in the wall of your house in Jamaica. I really enjoyed reading that content.

I hope you could go back to explore more beautiful places to travel here. There are more and the Cloud 9 in Siargao also if you love surfing. Heheh.

Yes, we lived in the Philippines for 7 full years in Moalboal. My husband ran Cebu Dive Centre in Moalboal, but we returned to the UK after Covid. Thanks for your compliments. That picture on my bedroom wall in Jamaica was drawn by an artist in Picadilly square in London in 2001. That was the first time I heard of Beyonce... because people walking by kept saying "look like Beyonce. I then got abreast with the times. 😆

I also had a massage in Palawan on a short trip I made there. No, I'm not into surfing or any sea activity. Only my husband. I did aqua aerobics daily in a pool when I lived there though, and yoga, mindfulness, and meditation are what appeals to me just as much as massages 😍

You must be sisters with Beyonce, hehe. Indeed, you are as gorgeous and as beautiful as her dear, Milly. And that, I must say that you are confidently beautiful inside and out because that is what I feel about you even if I do not know you personally.

What a great day to know a surprising story that you were here for 7 years. You both are so perfect for each other. A minimalist and an explorer, hehe.

By the way, it's nice meeting the other side if you my beautiful, Beyonce. Much !LUV

You must be sisters with Beyonce,

Hehe! the poor one 🤣
Thanks for your compliment. I think I'm confident because of my accepting outlook on everything in life, and the value I place on intrinsic things.

Yes, the seven years I spent in the Philippines grew me in many ways, so I feel a great connection with the people and the place.

I was new on Hie when I lived there, and only got the chance to meet a few Filipinos when I was there.
It would be great if I return one day and get to have a Hive link up 😍

nice massage tool

Yes, I think so too.

How do you react when you get a massage?

There's no negative side effect for sure!

does it feel good?

Absolutely!

✅ the atmosphere is right
✅ the setting is comfortable
✅ it's on an empty stomach
✅ the scent of the oil is relaxing and comforting
✅ the movement and pressure applied to feel safe
✅ I make sure to replace the fluids in my body by drinking lots of water.

Are you thinking of getting a massage tool like this one?

yes of course I think that is very good to use. I think people like me who often work hard are very good at using this tool when the body feels sore.

It would be great if you got a tool like this or similar. They have a variety of shapes and designs. Caring for the muscles is great especially if your livelihood involves manual labour, so all good wishes in getting your massages one way or another 😀

hehehe.. yes friend it's true as you say. if we work manually it feels really sore at night.. so if you have a tool like this it is certainly very helpful.

The 1st photo and first lines tickled my mind a bit.. 😆😅

I so love massages... Even having my kids walk on my back is good enough especially after a very exhausting day. So having this kind of tool will be very helpful.

The 1st photo and first lines tickled my mind a bit.. 😆😅

Haha! I can't believe that! This must be a "manual power tool"... The manufacturer promised to tickle other places, which it does, but now you tell me that it does the mind too? 😆

Massages are wonderful. If I had the luxury, I would have my personal massage therapist live with me and a sauna so that I could pamper myself daily. I bet your kids enjoy walking on your back:)))

I know I didn't check the NSFW contents here but that first photo I saw makes me think of..🤣.
I guess, I only had a dirty mind..

I love massage but it was so expensive as most of the time, I avail an hour and half with some netibo healing.. It focuses more on back and hips pain.. and some hot compress to relieve those pains.

Haha! My mind IS SO INNOCENT, that it was not until my husband told me what he thought my device was that the postman handed him 😆 ...Haha...

I miss the Philippines for massages. I wish every country placed priority on massages like the Philippines does. I was surprised to see how receptive men are to even having massage in open places like malls.
Thanks for stopping by:)))

Ah oo, even in public markets you can have a massage and some pwd's who got a problem with eyesight were usually trained for massage..

Hehe!

Yes, I think it's an amazing incentive/initiative to have the blind do massages. After all, when there's a loss of one sense, other senses are naturally strengthened. It's a good way to make people feel included and self-worthy too.
Kudos to the Philippines for that 👏

Dear God. The first photo and following paragraph made me giggle 🤣

That's something I could use though. I generally foam roll my legs after cycling, but have a hard time massaging the quads. That would work wonders.

Dear God.

Yes, my child! 😆

A giggle is always good.

Yes, this is perfect for massaging my quads too. I did that once, and it's even easier than the tummy massage.
Doing your legs is challenging but so important for cyclists, so I would recommend one of these for sure. They come in all designs and shapes and they are very cheap and can be purchased online.
Next week I'm gonna focus on my thighs 🤙

Doing your legs is challenging but so important for cyclists

It is!! I like to go swimming as active recovery, but sometimes the muscles are so freaking tense. I'll see if I find one of those.

Good luck with finding one.
Otherwise, if the muscles are that tense, probably try adding an ice pack (frozen peas) which could numb the pain. If your legs are stiff and achy, then a heated gel pack (which I prefer over ice) would be ideal.

Haha! I think it's raining everywhere. The only thing is that it's icy cold here in the Uk. I love to be in the rain in warm countries like Jamaica where it;s just liquid sunshine 😎

I need this badly. Currently suffering from body pain due to too much work recently.. I feel like I want to go to a spa and have a whole-body massage...

I am sure that you could probably find one like this or a similar design at any local Gaisano 😁
However, nothing beats a full-body massage and honestly, the price in the Philippines for the quality and variety of massages is unbeatable.
Look after yourself because muscular pain can easily become emotional and mental pain. I hope you get around to doing one:)

I think it’s time to finally learn how to massage myself or use similar tools like the one you shared since I cannot afford a body massage from a professional. Hmmm. Actually, I am always having a bloated stomach, but I’ll try the technique you shared and do it early in the morning. I hope it’ll work on me.

I think it’s time to finally learn how to massage myself

Yeah, why not! I've been inspired by watching my cat. 😆

Tummy massages work wonders. I've had a few professional ones done, and it's quite a hard technique. So performing one on yourself would stimulate your inner organs, but the break down of fat would take longer than one you would get from the therapist.

I'm not giving false hope or being over optimistic, but losing fat from the tummy can happen with massage and some subtle exercises. I speak from personal experience. I was once accused of having a tummy tuck:)

haha!!! What a click bait title and first image!!! Naughty!!!!!

I love a good massage, but don't like giving myself one as I can't fully relax and enjoy my message when one part of me is working hard for the other part. Hubs is useless, so the only alternative is either going out to get a massage, or buying a massage chair (they are a luxury but expensive!!!) or a smaller electrical massager. Currently, it's not a high priority as I've got a lot of big spend coming up soon, so the massage will have to wait....

Mine too!

I start getting into the relaxation while giving myself now. The darker room helps.
Hmm, I never thought of a massage chair, but yes, I think they would be massively expensive. If only I were a millionaire 😁

Yes, the tool is amazing, and massaging your feet right before bed is a great habit. It's also recommended to wear socks after if you have difficulty falling asleep. Great point 👍
