The Benefit of The Cat's Whisker Plant

Hello, everyone. I'd like to share about the benefit of kumis kucing plant or the cat's whisker plant.

This plant can grow easily in our country (Indonesia). It has white flowers that resemble a cat's whiskers. People grow this plant because its flowers look beautiful, but also the benefit it has to health.

The cat's whisker plant can be used as a herbal drink. Usually, people take 5 or 7 leaves of this plant, then boiled them with a glass of water to drink. Another way is to have these leaves dried. Whenever they need to drink this herbal drink, they can put the dried leaves on the glass, and put hot water on it. Just like making tea.

Some benefit of this plant is believed to help with:

1. high blood pressure. The plants contain substances called Methylripariochromene A (MRC) which helps to relax the muscles and the blood vessels.

2. rheumatism, the plant is believed to help with relieving the pain caused by rheumatism. It also helps with maintaining the joint.

3. preventing bladder tract infection, this plant has an anti-bacterial property so it can help to prevent infection in the bladder track.

4. help to ease the cough. Since it has anti-bacterial property, it will help with preventing the germs in the throat.

5. detoxification. The cat's whisker leaves are believed to help with cleaning toxic and removing germs in Indonesia. Hence there is a herbal drink made of this plant mixed with other spices known as Jamu.
