Chinese Tang Yuan Food Meetup

🙃 My belated Chinese New Year activity 🙂

This was my first meet up in the 2021 that I had physical connection with my dear friends after Thailand second wave of Covid had blocked me for few months ago 🤣 🤣 🤣. When the Pandemic situation here seemed to be a little relax so its time to go around, have things fun then

😇 2021 New Year Party Tang Yuan X Chinese calligraphy 😇

I know the host of this meet up, he is from Taiwan. I think he is really good organize. He not only giving us cooking Chinese desert but also he prepared for Chinese calligraphy, which is the writing of Chinese characters as an art form by using paintbrush. Me and other friends got to be compulsory to make this so you can see my Chinese hand writing appeared as a bit weird 😅

We got to make this " Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice Balls) "

I put this picture from internet in case you might now figure out what was the foods I mentioned to

• We started preparing flour and then kneaded together with water after that to ืcreate new colored of Tang Yuan , we filled further seasoning such as green tea power, pumpkin paste, Purple sweet potato paste. So now we had various color of Tang Yuan which are White, Green, Yellow, Purple. Leave them for a while, ready for the next step.

• Next , to make " A filled tangyuan's filling" which we had sesame, pumpkin paste, sweet bean paste, and then form it into small rounded balls.
• After that, we got to place mix variation fillings ( rounded balls ) into the flour we kneaded. They are made by wrapping and forming into round shape balls again.

Let's Tangyuan had been cooked in boiling water

We leave them in boiling water approximately 10 mins, once cooked Tang Yuan is served in ginger-infused syrup

The taste we were having this was not too bad. I got to taste soften flour texture when Tang Yuan inside my mouth, various fillings had spreading out to touch my tongue. All of these were made from natural resource, without chemical ingredients

So, it might not seem to be perfect as it looks but the ways I could gain from this was about my eyes-open up. I got to try new trail especially the things from other culture. I just started to know for Tang Yuan menu is typically eaten together with family for China and maybe Taiwan included.
Importantly, I got to have physical talking with my friends again, sharing each stuff, laughing together 😉
