~FFF~ Family Food and Fire ~ Food Fight Friday ~FFF~

(Edited)

Look at this guy... coming into the Food Fight Friday Arena a day late in hopes of hitting the other contenders while they are down. Actually I kind of feel like the one that is down... I took a week off of work to... work around the house and finish a bunch of projects. Let’s just say my back is a little tired. Lol. So what better way to end the week than by having some family over, firing up the BBQ and enjoying some s’more making in the new and improved Fire pit.

That is some serious poundage!

The morning fuel up consisted of a protein packed breakfast bowl. The traditional Bacon Eggs and Hash browns were piled on top of each other. One fresh duck egg cooked over easy should coat those hash browns nicely with the rich flavorful yoke.

I chose a bowl because, well to be honest there were no plates clean. Some may call that lazy but I call it improvising. :wink:wink.

Top it off with a Raw Milk Protein Shake. “One Scoop of Vanilla and One Scoop of Chocolate Please.”

Now that is how you top off the tank in the morning. I might need to chill for an hour or so and let this digest a bit before I get working.

Pay no attention to that pizza box...

A facelift to the front of the house is near completion. With one more coat of paint to apply to the porch railings, one final touch to the flower bed was needed. So we took the truck to the local sand and gravel pit and picked up a Ton of 1-1/2 round river rock. 2,000 pounds on the bed was nothing for the truck but my boy was saying otherwise and so was my back. Lol

That was the exact amount of rock needed to cover the front flower bed evenly. Not bad... not bad at all. I do have another section that needs done but that will be another day.

Mama Splatts arrived from the store with a couple Tri-Tip roasts and a big thumbs up on the new rock in the flower bed. After doing a bit of clean up and getting the Green Mountain Pellet Grill up to temp at 300F, it’s time to start cooking. Flipping each Tri-tip every 20 minutes or so and arranging them in different places on the grill, helps them cook evenly. The lower the temp the more pink you will have throughout the meat and the more smoke flavor on the outside.

I save all my scrap pieces of wood from my projects in a pile. No treated, painted, or glued pieces are added to the pile. The reason is I use this pile of scrap wood to throw in my redesigned washtub fire pit. Don’t worry, the grass will grow back :winkwink

Potatoes are in the oven cooking @ 425F and the Tri-tip roasts are done and resting in the microwave. It’s asparagus time. Cover them with a light coating of olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper and a little garlic powder. Bump the temp on the grill up to 400F and lay the asparagus out. Cook them for about 5 minutes and roll them around. Then just a couple more minutes and they are done. They have that pleasant crunch. Oh ya!!

Mama Splatts picked up some kale salad and added a little Mama Splatts touch to it. I don’t know what she did but DANG!!! I could eat a whole bowl of it!!

Make sure to leave a little bit of room for dessert. Or if you are like me, don’t leave any room for dessert and let that food coma kick in!! We gathered around the Washtub fire pit for some s’more making madness!! Now that is how things are done on a Food Fight Friday at the Splatts House.

After a long weeks of getting projects done around the house and a meal like that. It’s time to kick back and chill. Let’s just say I slept like a baby.

Until Next Time...

Meat, tators, and veg, add in that mama-splatz salad and boy howdy you got a nice food coma in the making. Nice work this week @jlsplatts!

Doing my best dude!! Trying to get somewhat of a post schedule figured out. I was off work all week on vacation so I had some time to put something together in between all the projects. Lol.

FFF is working with Foodiesunite to help lessen the workload a bit. Hopefully I can get Round 1 Contender post out today sometime.

Had to teach my boy a little manual labor. “Shovel that rock out of the truck” Hahaha. We made a good rock shoveling team that day. Lol
