Making Nigerian Jollof Rice For Breakfast - How Sumptous

Hello beautiful family. Well it is said that food is sure the way to a man's heart. Do you agree? Well I guess its very true. Now a lot of people have this misconception about Nigerian jollof and Ghanian jollof about which one is more delicious and good looking and the rest. Hahaa well to me, both are the same, jollof rice is jollof rice and all have their own various amazing taste and value.

So I decided to make Jollof rice, a very delicious one at that.😋 I'll be giving you step by step ways of how I made mine. If you do not know how to make Jollof rice, you could learn from here and trust me, if you try it out, you should come out excellently well. Now lets get to business.

My ingredients and recipe are really simple, easily found and really affordable. They include:

  1. Vegetable oil
  2. Fresh Tomatoes, Pepper and Onion
  3. Tomato paste
  4. Sardines
  5. Crayfish
  6. Carrot
  7. Seasoning and Salt
  8. Thyme and Curry
  9. Rice
  10. Water

So first of all, get some water boiling and then you get your Fresh Tomatoes, Pepper and Onion grated and set aside in a bowl, chop your carrot and wash your crayfish. Moving on to the cooking.

Get your clean pot on the fire, make sure its dry from water. When its dry, pour a little quantity of Vegetable oil in the pot and make it heat up. Add your blended/grated pepper, the tomato paste and stir, and allow to cook for about a minute, then add the carrot, sardines and crayfish and also your thyme, curry, seasoning and salt to taste. Make your taste seem like the salt is too much.

While its cooking, your water should be heated up by then, pour the hot water into what you're frying (I said you should make it seem like the salt is too much the other tine because when you add your water, the taste will reduce and become normal after cooking). Now wash your rice, add to it and cover your pot. Leave it for some minutes, depending on the quantity of rice you are cooking. Make sure you are checking on it from time to time to avoid burning.

When the rice is soft and you think its done, allow the water to dry well then try to stir a little. Do not stir in a way to seem you are turning amala or garri, just stir a little to avoid it from joining together. Its quite unfortunate that after all my preparation and taking pictures of my ingredients and when I started cooking, I actually forgot to take the final picture of the food. So I had to get the one above. So I apologize for that. Well thats it.

Now, rice is generally safe for everyone and is a quick energy source. It is also a good source of fiber and an excellent source of vitamins and minerals coupled with all other ingredients used. It might interest you to know that rice, especially brown rice may reduce your body's ability to absorb other nutrients. Wow. You see why you need to try it. A trial will convince you.
