Following A Recipe to Make Bomboloni Doughnut

Hi,everyone, my wife tried a recipe from internet (from an Indonesian website) to make donat bomboloni or bomboloni doughnut.

Here is the ingredient:

  • half a kilogram of wheat flour
  • yeast
  • sugar
  • water
  • margarine
  • cooking oil
  • fine sugar as topping

And here is how she made the donut:

First, she mixed the wheat flour, margarine, yeast, and water on a big bowl. She used a mixer to mix everything in. In the past, she mixed dough manually, and the result was not so good.

Few minutes later, she stopped mixing and put away the dough. According to her, she needed to let the dough to rise so she put it away for an hour.

After an hour passed, she took the dough again. Next, she made little balls from the dough. The balls were place on a plastic paper. But first, she put some wheat flour on the paper a little bit, so the ball did not stick on the paper.

When all the dough become little balls, she put those balls away for 30 minutes.

Twenty minutes passed by, and she took the little balls again. With a roller, she flatten the little balls. I was taking some photos when she asked me to take a glass for her. She used the glass to mold the dough into a round flat shape. You'd better see next photos, as my English may fail to explain what's going on. 😅

She put all these flat circle dough away for twenty minutes before frying them in palm oil.

After finished frying all the dough, she made holes in each of the dough. And finally put liquid chocolate into each of the doughnut.

She also shimmer the doughnuts with fine sugar at the end. And that's how she made bomboloni doughnut.

Last, here is the story of how the chocolate liquid was made: First, she put carnation milk, margarine and chocolate bar on a pan and heated it on a burning stove. When the chocolate was heated, it melted. She waited until it cooled off before putting this chocolate liquid into a plastic container. She used this to "inject" the chocolate liquid into the doughnut.

Well, that's how the Indonesian version of bomboloni doughnut is made.
