Every now and then we cook sayur gambas or silky gourd, just a variety in our menu. I quite like silky gourd when cook as soup. Now, I'd like to share with you how we (well, my wife) cook the silky gourd in about 15 minutes or less.

For this we prepared:

  • two silky gourds
  • 3 pieces of shallots
  • 2 pieces of garlic
  • a bit of coconut oil for frying
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of sugar
  • a glass of water
  • sausages

First, we peeled the silky gourd. There was no special way of peeling, just use any knife you have. Next, we cut the silky gourd into little pieces.

When we finish cutting all the silky gourds, we put them aside. Next, we would prepare the seasoning. For this, we cut some shallots, and garlics. We also cut some sausages later to add later.

When we finish cutting everything, we prepared a frying pan with a litle bit of coconut oil on it. We fried the garlic and shallots. Later we put the sliced sausages. We stirred the shallot, garlic, and the sausages, so all mixed together.

We stirred for about 3 minutes or so, when it was cooked we poured some water into the frying pan. It did not particularly look appealing when we add some water, but it was not over yet.

After waiting for few moment, the water was boiling and it was time to put in all the silky gourd. We stirred every thing again to mix the gourd with all the rest of ingredients. We added some salt and a little bit of sugar. Five minutes later, the silky gourd turned soft. And we knew it's ready to serve.
