A Quick Review Of The Food From Gerry's Grill

avatar

Hello Foodies,

My family once again is complete and it had been our bonding time on weekends to go out and eat. Although the Philippines is still under quarantine, people can now go outside and dine at a restaurant unlike the previous months. This weekend we went to Gerry's Grill which is inside the mall. This post is about my quick review of the food we ordered.

Sinigang Soup

Let me start with their soup. It is called sinigang which is a very popular soup here in the Philippines. A sour soup which can take different ingredients. Here we had shrimp as the main meat for our sinigang. We use different souring ingredients like tamarind, guava etc. This soup I can tell has tamarind and I like it. I had watermelon and pineapple as the souring agents before but did not like them. This soup for me is highly recommended.

Crunchy Kangkong Leaves

For the side, we ordered crispy kangkong leaves with a sour cream dip. It is green leafies coated with batter then deep fried until crispy. I love the texture but for anything like this you should consume them while they are still hot.

Pork Sisig In Hot Plate

I wrote this as pork sisig I assumed it was pork because that is how it should be. The Kapampangan made this as their original and pork is the choice of meat. It tasted like beef though. There is no crunch on the texture but that is fine. I was looking for the traditional sisig from Aling Lucing who invented the recipe. It is delicious but I was looking for the authentic sisig.

Crab Rice

At first I like the taste but as I go on the butter is starting to overpower the rice and the crab meat. It was too greasy and I ordered another plate of plain rice. I do not like it so to speak.

Squid

I do not know the name of this dish but there are squids on it so I just wrote squid. I did not have a taste because the greasy crab rice made me yearning for something bland or sweet. Umay to the max.

Iced Tea

So I grabbed this glass of iced tea. I was surprised. It tasted like brewed tea which is great. Not your ordinary store bought iced tea mix. This tastes better like I said, brewed and I love it. Enough to rinse my palate off that greasy rice.

No other diners except for us and one group on another table. See how physical distancing is maintained. They covered some seats with cling wraps so diners won't sit on them.

That is it thank you for dropping by.

Keep discovering. Satisfy your curiosity and never get tired learning new things
