🥥 Num Kroch (Orange Bread) 🌾 A Khmer Ital Recipe 🥥

Hi there, I come again with a #plantbased Khmer recipe. I made Num Kroch to eat in the afternoon today and I want to share it with everyone.

I make in Suriname, I think they don't have something like this to eat here, but I never see before. I think it's special Cambodia Ital dessert in Suriname.

This is over 3 years ago in the Kampot riverside of Cambodia.

My family sometimes miss our life in Kampot City, when evening we were always go to visit Kampot riverside and buy Num Kroch and sugarcane juice to eat and drink. We sit and view beautiful nature. It’s normally life but very happens for our small family.

👩‍🍳 Num Kroch (Ital) Recipe 🔪

វិធីធ្វើនំក្រូច

Ingredients For Make Dough

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/3 cup rice flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

Ingredients For Make Filling

  • 1/2 cup dal or orange lentisl
  • 1/2 coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut meat
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • sesame seeds
  • oil for frying

Soak bean for 4 hours, after wash them and steam beans or boil it until cooked.

Step 1

Boil coconut milk and put salt, sugar, stir it and put coconut meat and bean, stir it a little until looks like not have water,then stop fire.

Step 2

When it's cool make it like balls.

Step 3

Then put glutinous rice flour and rice flour, salt in the big bowl mix up.

Then put coconut milk stir it very well and do it very well.

Step 4

Then put oil a little in your hands and pinch dough to use for filling.

Do it like this and close it very well and do it like ball and press it a little between your hands.

Then put sesames seeds as you like.

Then heat oil fry it.

Normally if the people make it for sell they do not use coconut milk for make dough but I put it because it’s more delicious than them.

I made it formy family, don’t sell, but when we use coconut milk in dough, when fried it’s not brown like without coconut milk, but more delicious. This is my Ital way, always make more special and healthy.

Normally we add sugar for make dough also but I do not use it because I don’t like the sweet. Have a nice weekend everybody.
