Elevating The Repetitive Cheese and Toast Sandwich ๐ฝ Add Onion And Ketchup
Ever had one of those mornings or around lunchtime that you aren't looking forward to your plain cheese sandwich? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy cheese sandwiches, but sometimes it's just repetitive. On one of those days an ex-colleague then, gave me a recipe to elevate those slices of bread with cheese and that's what I was thinking of since last night before falling asleep.
Required are of course a few slices of bread (the amount you need), onion, ketchup and any type of cheese you have. Gouda cheese was what I had in my refrigerator, so that's what I used. Garlic is optional for that extra punch of flavor and I usually don't use it to save on time. Because I already had some pre-chopped onion and garlic, I decided to also use the garlic.
The first step is to generously spread the ketchup on the slices of bread (1), after which the chopped garlic and onion can be added (2). Lastly cheese on top and then place the slices in the oven to toast (3).

The end result is a toasty cheesy, onion and tomato flavor, akin to a pizza bread or quiche. This recipe is used whenever I have a craving to pizza and am in a time crunch or when I need to switch up my usual toast for breakfast.
