IN THE WOODS, TODAY AROUND NOON

avatar
(Edited)

I went for a walk earlier today. It was about noon when I sat in the car and drove from my hometown northwards ...

(Enlargeable)

... to the woods in the area around the small town called Svetvinchenat.

The day was cold but nice and sunny ...

(Enlargeable)

... the sky was clear, so I shot the moon through the twigs and branches of an oak tree.

(Enlargeable)

I parked the car by the main road ...

img_2701_malo.jpg

... and continued on foot along the narrow country lane that leads to one of the many small, isolated settlements with only a couple of homes.

img_2707_malo.jpg

The sunlight in winter has always a beautiful, warm yellow tinge, even in the middle of the day.

img_2708_malo.jpg

The brown foliage looked very beautiful lit that way.

img_2695_malo.jpg

Soon I caught a distant airplane with my camera. It looked like the plane is directed towards the moon. I waited a bit in the hope to get a shot with the distant plane in front of an even more distant moon. But as the plane was getting closer to the moon, it became clear that will miss it ...

img_2702_malo.jpg

... so I turned my focus to the ground ...

img_2719_malo.jpg

... and some treasures partially hidden by the fallen leaves. This is a can of local beer. Empty of course. And pretty old, judging by the faded color. The red turned into pink.

img_2703_malo.jpg

About ten or twenty steps further ...

img_2720_malo.jpg

... I found a lovely, dark glass bottle ...

img_2721_malo.jpg

... of bittersweet liquor called Pelinkovac. It has some similarities with Jägermeister and stuff like that. I mean, the bottle was empty now, but it was made to hold that type of liquor.

Some trees are almost completely covered with lichens. That is visible only in winter, and it does look cool. Every season has some beauty to show us.

img_2717_samomalo.jpg

I like the look of the light green, lichen-covered trunks combined with brown leaves lit by slightly yellow sunlight.

img_2718_malo.jpg

Here you can take a more up-close look at those things, the lichens, the bark, and the leaves.

img_2714_malo.jpg

Here you can see one of a few paths that lead left and right from the county lane into the woods.

img_2705_malo.jpg

Here you can admire the dead foliage again.

img_2722_malo.jpg

This is the texture of the lichen-covered bark.

img_2698_malo.jpg

This is yet another generic portrait of the woods ...

img_2712_malo.jpg

... and that's it. It wasn't a long walk, had things to do at home, so I left the woods soon. While thinking about where to publish this post, in search of some new community because I like to post in different places, I found an old subscription that I never used - Dolphin Assemble. From what I understood by reading the rules, thematically everything goes if is not plagiarism. So, since I'm in my Dolphin stage, getting every day closer to the metamorphosis that will turn me into a bigger Delphinidae creature, I decided to post this thing there.

AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.

For me, all the parts in your photos are always interesting to watch, especially with the addition of a description in each photo, the photo of your post that is most interesting to me is the photo of the plane, reminds me when a plane passes in the sky in my area, especially with the good quality of your photos.

Although it is possible to see every shade of green in nature in spring, when it comes to color tones, winter months have richer colors. It is possible to capture the color tones of not only green but also yellowing and rotting leaves.

Winter is to me one of the most beautiful seasons ... that soft southerly sunlight, brief though it be during the short days, has a golden hue to it no other season possesses, as if to compensate us for the cold... these pictures truly capture what I see at this time of year ...

True, the cold winter has plenty of charm. 🙂 Even without the magic of snow.

In San Francisco it snows about once every 30 years, but yes, winter is still glorious, though cold ...

I'm surprised you don't have snow.
Lichens... I remember when I was at school, it was written in textbooks that mosses and lichens grow on the north side of trees. The teachers explained that this knowledge would help not to get lost in the forest, to clearly recognize directions...
Great was my surprise when I first got into a real forest and saw that moss and lichen can grow anywhere, and not necessarily on the north side of the tree!

Hehehe, I also had that school experience. We have a bit of snow once in 10 - 15 years. The winters are mild here.
