Hidden Gem: I Think We're Alone Now

I absolutely adore those random and rare occurrences where a movie slips under your radar and you find it years later just waiting to be discovered by you! This was exactly the case of I Think We're Alone Now, which premiered in 2018 and stars the powerful Peter Dinklage and the enchanting Elle Fanning! I have no clue how I missed this one, but as I was searching through Amazon Prime for something to watch in between me binging my guilty pleasure of Married at First Sight (lolol I know, I know!), I can across this film and was instantly intrigued.

For one, I was fascinated as it was a post-apocalyptic tale and that just happens to be the framework for my favorite stories and movies. I don't anything will ever surpass my adoration for Cormac McCarthy's, The Road, but I really do love all post-apocalyptic stories in general. I also could tell from the description that it wasn't going to be monster, zombie, or action based and that drew me in even deeper. I love a story that is just that...a story and this hidden gem did not disappoint. The interactions of the characters in this film were phenomenal and I am constantly amazed at the progression of talent that Peter Dinklage has amassed over his career. He is such a deep and powerful actor and rarely gets the recognition he deserves and few, if any, actresses her age could even hold a candle to the talent Elle Fanning brings to the screen.

In addition to excellent character interaction, the story builds with a palatable underlying stress that you just KNOW is going to reveal a darker tale and it does! The journey these two souls take is at the same time uplifting and redemptive in nature. Another aspect that impressed me greatly was the shot selection and framing of each scene...it was done with masterful perfection in my opinion! If you haven't seen this one, I highly recommend you give it a shot!

Ouu... I love me a well plotted and not too overly dramatic post- apocalyptic movie! And with a stellar cast consisting of Peter Dinklage himself and Elle Fanning (I prefer Dakota actually XD), it seems worth a watch!

I'll check it out.

Also, I don't think Peter Dinklage is that underrated, I mean he has won multiple Emmys! It's just a matter of time before he grabs that Oscar😃

I am constantly amazed at the progression of talent that Peter Dinklage has amassed over his career. He is such a deep and powerful actor and rarely gets the recognition he deserves.

I couldn't agree with you more Papacrusher, for me, Peter Dinklage was the best character in Game of Thrones, a series where the writing excels through its character development.

I've never seen this movie, so thanks for sharing. It's another post-apocalyptic one that flew under my radar.

Although fantasy is my favourite genre for reading/watching sci-fi is a close second and post-apocalyptic settings are a very close 3rd. This gives me something to watch tonight 🙂
