What is happening to the world and why is everyone so lazy?

The school started again on 15 January and we have been overwhelmed with work. The beginning of the year is always a difficult time, because we have so many new students and of course new parents stressing about their little babies.

What has happened with the parents of students these days? No wonder we have so many unbalanced kids that can't think for themselves anymore because they don't give their children an opportunity to be themselves.  Most kids are spoon fed and too scared to communicate, because their parents sort everything out for them.

How in the world must a child learn to stand on their own two feet when their parents do everything for them. I remember when I was in primary school the teacher was always right, and we had to fight our own battles.  We were scared of our parents or rather we didn't want to disappoint our parents and our teachers.  We worked hard and did the work ourselves.

Nowadays I can clearly see if a project is handed in that it was definitely NOT done by the student but that the parent had a great influence on the project.  How does a child learn to work independently if their parents build their projects for them?

Perhaps the teacher's own children grow up the hardest of all.  I would support my children with everything they do but they had to do their own schoolwork.  They are getting the marks and not me. They had to learn how to stand on their feet because their mother was too busy marking parent's work.  In some way it is unfair towards a teachers kids but in the end, these kids walk out balanced on the other side, and they are fully able to stand on their own two feet.

One thing that I have noticed on our website is that even the parents are too lazy too read. I know it is a big adjustment from a normal brick and mortar school to an online school, but seriously the information is right there on our website but they will rather come to our live chat and wait for hours to be helped instead of just reading the information on the site. People have become so lazy that it is easier to ask a question than to actually look for the answer yourself.

We are bombarded with questions where they could literally just go and read the information if needed or watch a video to see how things get done.

Gosh, if you are too lazy to read I don't know what is going to happen to you for the rest of your life.  We have made videos for people to watch instead of reading but still, they come in flocks and they ask the same questions over and over again.

I understand that new things take time to learn or to understand but what happened to effort? I was taught that if you don't know something you go and do research and find out how it is done and then you figure it out by yourself.

Perhaps it is just the time that we live in.  Everything has become so easy that we forgot how to think for ourselves.

Here at school we have gone through great lengths to develop books for the students that will help them with critical thinking and with emotional intelligence.  Guess what? Most students prefer NOT to do the courses because it is just too much work.

In my life, I try and learn something new every day.  Simply because I like learning new things and because I want to broaden my general knowledge. This is another thing that Google seemed to have taken away from us. People would rather google for an answer than to actually think about it.

Although Google is such a great search engine, which I also use very often, there are always negatives and positives involved.  I use Google as a guide but others use it as a crutch. Possibly simply because they were not taught to persevere and to do things on their own.

Am I just being too judgemental?

The beginning of the year madness is touch and go.  The programmers working with us are not the sharpest and we are frustrated due to the lack of communication, but in time everything calms down and everyone just get used to the way that we do things.

Parent's should leave their kids to be themselves, and let them explore and invent and just be kids again. Parent's need to teach their children responsibility and let them take responsibility for their actions.

At school, a teacher is that same child's parent, but if the parent doesn't teach the child to be independent, then the teacher should not be blamed for anything that goes wrong. (although these days, they are to blame for everything that goes wrong.)

In my opinion kids have too many rights, and crucify me for this but it is mainly the parent's fault. We have obedient parent's these days while the kids are not.

Education begins at home.  May every parent think about this today!

I also use google a lot when I have any question but some answer can't be found using google. Google is just a guideline I think, the result is up to ouself, our own judgement but it's better to be careful because I don't think that every answer we found can be fully true. Other than just finding one answer, maybe it will be better to look at the base evidences too not only for research but for any kind of things especially news. I guess.
