ARISS ISS SSTV Images, Firewood, Freeze Dryer Reload - Christmas Friday

avatar

Okay, I'm stoked! I woke up before 5:00am to spend my morning working the antenna on our house as well as the various websdrs that are around the world. From my time spent recording the audio signals I was able to replay the files and the images were decoded MUCH better than while live. Of the 12 images I have now gotten images 1, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in mostly good condition. It has been hard to find the right stations around the world that have a good antenna setup and then recording the audio takes actively following the signal as the doppler effect shifts it. The SSTV event goes until the 31st so you would have time to try catching your own images. There is even a certificate if you can catch all 12.

After the boys woke and they opened their presents, we cleaned the living room some then got the trays all ready for the next batch in the freeze dryer. The first tray is the shrimp fried rice.

A tray full of our homegrown strawberries which are super flavorful so I'm hoping that will translate to the processed.

With our steaks the other night I cooked up a pair of round steaks which were then left outside on a tray to freeze. I brought them in to thaw a bit then @stryeyz sliced it up into nice strips. I filled the rest of the tray with frozen berries.

She had also cooked up a bunch of eggs, 16 I think, and they got prefrozen overnight. To fill the tray out I put alfredo on.

The last tray got alfredo and then ice cream sandwiches. Super curious to see the sandwiches come out.

Once it had warmed a bit I moved the vehicles and then loaded my truck super full of rounds. I backed it into the yard and tossed the rounds out.

I then got the rest of the cut pieces hauled up and unloaded. @stryeyz helped move the rounds and stack them so wee could cover them with the tarp and the smaller stuff got stacked on the wood pile.

I got a fire going in the pit for the afternoon and before the snow hit in the evening.

We got 4 inches of snow overnight and today I am going north to camp for a couple of nights at the lake. Hopefully the roads will be okay but i figure on waiting till light to leave so I'll be able to see a bit better. Once I get back I will be spending a good bit of time getting the rest of the ISS SSTV images.
