Sheetrock, Studio Door, Hike - Saturday

Instead of insulation I spent time getting the sheetrock up on walls yesterday. There are so many cuts to make for all the pieces that I need to fit around the windows so it took quite a bit of time just to get done what I did.

The first couple of pieces weren't bad as they are larger and the outlet cover covers the parts I broke around the outlet box....

The main door had been opening inwards but I am now to the point I had to turn it around but when I did so I found that it was too tall to swing right so I had to lop off about 3/8 inch from the bottom. I spent in inordinate mount of time fiddling with the door before I finally got it to seat somewhat right.

We had a late lunch of Thanksgiving leftovers then went for another hike up the hill. We managed to get it done while the sun was still up and of course the boys want to take the steeper section of the hill for the hike up.

The light was nice and it was a bit warm in the sun as we stood on the edge of the hill.

I need to go in and do some trimming back on the base of the trail as things got a bit overgrown this year while I was busy with everything else around the farm.

With the door hung I got the jam built so the gaps around the door are covered. I have a bit of work to figure out how to make the door latch closed as it has an ancient handle and lock.

Until I level the deck better this is as far as the door will open. We can still get in and out.

The lower section of the corner is good for now. I've got a bit of insulation to install overhead then I can finish the corner. I want to move all the sheetrock to this side after I get it done so I can have room on the other end to keep working.

In the morning I was on the roof fixing the ground wire from the mast to the metal roof on the house. I need to come up with a fat run of copper that I can then ground the metal roof to the grounding rod. The mast sits too far away for me to run a wire direct to the grounding rod so I have to make things work otherwise.

Today after the PL matches I need to get back to work on the studio, find/make the top mast section for the disc cone antenna I am getting, I need to pull out the lumber to build R's bed and maybe get the pieces cut for it. Soon I need to get the 3 trees cut down that are ready to go. They will give us a couple or few cords of wood and lots to run through the chipper.
