Snow, Freeze Dried Goodness, Studio, and Hay - Tuesday

After taking the delicata squash to the co-op first thing in the morning, it snowed for a good part of the day before turning to rain in the evening. At times it was super fat flakes coming down but we only managed an inch of new snow.

R went to his last day of preschool for 2020 and he has the next 2 weeks off. While he was at school the freeze dryer finished its run. The thing took a lot longer this time due to the rice I am pretty sure.

Everything came out perfectly though and I bagged them all up for her to pick up. She needs a lot of food to feed her army.

I picked R up from school and he was all kinds of happy. They sang songs and the teacher recorded the video to send to the parents.

The sheep had started to munch on the trees so I knew it was time for a new bale. I had to open the frame and then roll a new one in before re-tying the lashing to hold it all together.

You can kind of see the path the bale rolled, past where R is standing. I have to say that having round bales is the only way I can feed the sheep as it is the least wasteful of my options.

I figured out my electrical problem. So, generally in electrical black is hot and white is neutral. On the cord that I have wired in it seems that white is hot and black is neutral. I was nearly killing the circuit because of that. It usually helps to check the voltage of the lines and not just assume.

But now the breakers all work right and the studio has power again. Now I can finish up the wall and get it buttoned up.

Stoked with how the studio sheets the snow off of it. The back eves are just long enough that the snow buildup hasn't reached the building yet and the metal roofing doesn't like holding on to it.

Once the freeze dryer had finally finished defrosting I got the trays all washed up and then loaded them up with candy. The first tray got a mix of gummy bears, candy corn, and chewy sprees.

Then a full tray of Skittles, a full tray of mini marshmallows, then a tray half and half.

The last tray got a spread of Flame raisins to have something on it to fill the rack.

The cover is now on the breaker box and I am ready for insulation and sheet rock.

Today I have to get the wall finished up, get rice and beans going in the freeze dryer once the last 2 trays are done, and work on organizing more in the house.

Looks interesting freeze drying these veggies. Never heard of that :)
but what my question is actually, why would you put the candy in there? aren't they already packed and good to eat for a long long time usually?
Curious to learn something new :)

The freeze drying process changes the texture of the candy. The skittles puff up like marshmallows, gummy bears puff up and nearly melt in your mouth, and I am hoping the sprees do the same as the skittles. The mini marshmallows didn't do anything but change texture. Part of it is novelty and part is trying all kinds of stuff to see what works.
