Studio Ceiling and Freeze Dryer - Sunday

21 hours for the load of broccoli and banana to be finished. Both of them came out perfect. The banana has a way different texture than dehydrated and the flavor is more like a fresh banana than the condensed flavor of the dehydrated.

First thing in the morning I had to go to town. The primary thing I was after was the breaker box for the studio and dog food but I of course found a few other things that I needed. Once home I got the box mounted and some breakers tossed in it. The wire will be getting installed into the studio today so I can try to get the last wall buttoned up.

@stryeyz came up and helped me to put up 2 sheets of the sheet rock on the ceiling. I had to cut the sheets down a few inches on an end to match the rafters.

I also had to install the little corner pieces that I had left unfinished but they took only a couple minutes each.

We used a 2x3 to help press the sheet up evenly and I ran 4 screws per sheet with washers to spread the force a bit and not punch holes in the stuff. I am going to run more screws into them today but I wanted the insulation to compress first.

We got the 2 sheets up in the bottom corners of the ceiling before we headed back to the house since our friend was stopping by.

While in town I picked up this little LED grow bulb. My avocado tree always languishes inside in the winter with the lack of light so I have this now installed in the living room light fixture so it points at the tree. Hopefully it will help it through the winter months better.

Our friend brought over some food stuffs to run through the freeze dryer. She and @stryeyz spent the afternoon prepping the ground beef, broccoli, apples, and spanish rice. It was about 5:45 pm when I started it and it has yet to reach the final dry as I write this and it has been over 14 hours so far.

It snowed just under 3 inches in the evening while I had a fire in the pit going so today will be fun for the boys to play and sled.

I have to take R to school this morning, work on the studio wiring and finish the wall, get squash ready for delivery tomorrow morning, shovel snow around the farm, and maybe roll a new bale into the sheep's pen.

A freeze dryer like that would be a handy thing in a community kitchen, erhaps as part of a church aid thing. Too bad the bureaucrats throw so many barriers in the way.

The likely hood of an organization getting to use it seems higher since they generally have commercial kitchens available. That would allow them to sell the products they package. But yeah, the gubberment is as usual elbow deep in something they don't belong in.

You sure are already getting your money's worth from the freeze dryer.
Your continued endorsement of the freeze dryer has me seriously considering purchasing one of those bad boys.

I see that you used r-30 in the ceiling, what size lumber did you use when framing the roof.
I used 2 x 8 lumber for the rafters and knowing that I need to leave some space between the roof sheathing and the insulation to allow for airflow, I was going to use r-19.

Installing a new breaker box is always a good sign that the project is getting near to completion>

Everything looks great!

I've got 2x6 rafters so the r-30 has to compress a bit. There wasn't an option for anything in between r-19 and r-30 when I bought the materials so went with the over instead of under.

If you do go for a freeze dryer they have a referral bit where the buyer gets mylar bags and absorbers added and I get a store credit, so let me know if you do for sure.

More is better for sure.

I love the freeze dryer.
I've got my stuff all hooked up for this year, and I'm heading for warmer weather shortly, Next season I'll be checking them out, and you'll be the first to know.

Got 37 inches of snow last night.

You got that right, Holly balls. I still have to clear the back deck, the woodpile, and my truck. That should take about 4 hours. Bring on Florida!!!!!!
