🍓 Growing STRAWBERRIES In The Garden 🍓
Amost Time!
We have added a strawberry bush to the collection of plants that are in our garden at the moment! They will ripen towards the end of summer, they always seem to be best around the time when Wimbledon is on! Around August time from what I remember! At the begining they are green and then they will become a deep red colour! Here's a fancy picture that I tried to take photographing the strawberry!
Watching Out!
Be careful too, the birds love berries. We have decided to net invest in a netted cage as we don't think it's worth the money at the moment. We might change our mind if we have no strawberries at the end of summer though! We will have to wait and see! What is a bigger threat is our two Labradors! They might get to them before we do!
Why Strawberries?
We were watching a TV programme the other night about gardening and Strawberries are called so because when they grow they grow down towards the ground and in order to protect them, people would put a fence of small pieces of straw around the strawberries in order to protect them! Who would've known!
Thank you!
Again, I would like to thank everyone for the support that they have been showing me in my blog posts. Thanks HIVE! I tried to grow strawberries here decades ago, but the chipmunks made short work of them. now I pick at an organic pick-your-own.
