Positive Consequences Of Covid19 - ECOTRAIN QUESTION OF THE WEEK TIE UP POST #26

This year 2020 that is leaving is a year of many teachings on a personal level. It is a year of much reflection, of learning and above all of rethinking the direction that my life has been taking. The break that the covid-19 has given us in our usual routines has given us time to take our feet off the gas, to look in the rearview mirror at the path we have been traveling in the maelstrom of a world that is turning faster and faster.

Introspection, reflection and change of course.

As I said in my initial paragraphs, the Covid-19 has come to put a stop to our lives, the crazy rhythm that we were running at. This has given us the possibility to see our inner selves, how we feel about ourselves, spiritually and above all to think if we are truly happy with the life we had been bringing up until before the pandemic.
These times of connecting with our interior is very important because from that look we will surely draw several conclusions and also be able to have the tranquility that gives us the time to turn the course if the path we have traveled does not make us fully happy.
Personally, it has helped me to rethink many aspects of my life with which I felt a total emptiness, but I still could not visualize the way out of that state of dissatisfaction.

In my case I worked through the whole quarantine the same way I did last year, the fact that I did not have to be going back and forth with my daughters' activities and restricting my purchases of supplies to one or two purchases a month, gave me time to look a little inside and start and try to change the course that was not doing me any good some time ago.

I was able to find some answers and above all identify those aspects that were leaving a bitter taste and start planning alternative paths in search of happiness and above all freedom.

The cards are laid and I know very well which is the path I want my life to take.

To enjoy those little things that many times go unnoticed.

I believe that if there is something that has left Covid-19 in all of us, it is those small things of the day to day that in normal situations go unnoticed and many times we do not value them, like being able to enjoy an afternoon with our grandparents, with our parents, to enjoy an afternoon in a square, or a nice dinner with friends or family, a warm hug or a kiss.

I believe that we human beings are one of the few beings on the planet that begins to value things once they are gone, and this has to leave us a teaching, a learning.

It is necessary that after all this we change the chip and begin to value those little things, our freedom.

Solidarity with our neighbors.

In my community this virus has left a very important aspect in view of everyone as it is the sense of solidarity. In the neighborhood where I live we have organized ourselves and those of us who in theory are less at risk from Covid-19 used to buy supplies for people who because they were high risk were not convenient to leave their homes.

Once a week we organized the purchases through Whatsapp groups so that we could not only make our own purchases but also those of several families, restricting the movement of people and also the possibility of contagion.

We also implement this system in the family, to take care of our parents who are high risk people.

I believe that this feeling of solidarity and collaboration has been one of the most exciting positive aspects that I can mention.

Nature recovers its natural balance.

I am very passionate about nature and enjoy everything it has to offer. During the period of isolation I have been very impressed by the amount and diversity of birds I have seen when I have been out walking. Apart from being a great admirer of nature, I am also a photography enthusiast and have gone for walks on several occasions with my mask and camera.

In the squares and walks of the neighborhood there are many birds that in normal situations are not observed as woodpeckers and what most caught my attention is that it was not just one specimen, but I have come to see up to four together.

The squares and walks were filled with wild flowers giving us beautiful landscapes. This shows us that when we give nature a little time and stop acting on it and stop modifying it, it returns to its natural balance, that which is so fragile and which we so easily break every day.

Reduction of greenhouse gases.

While the pandemic has put a major brake on the economy and industrial production that has put many jobs at risk, something that has never been achieved even by the most massive of the environmental activist marches is the significant reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and global warming.

For several days we could see how the temporary closure of several factories and also the reduced circulation of cars has considerably reduced the emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere, especially in the largest cities in the world. It is clear that this has not been enough to achieve the right quality of air, but it is a small step.

As a corollary and to finish I think of all this we will be able to enumerate positive and other negative aspects, but the most important thing is the teaching and learning that it has to leave us. If this does not happen I believe that we will be condemning to the extinction of humanity.
