What was your dream job when you were a child? ~versus~ What job do you have today?

I think that when we're children, we have a fairly simple view of the world. We see something for the first time that sparks our curiosity, and we already dream of becoming people who dedicate themselves to that thing that attracts us so much. We change our minds as soon as we find another topic that fascinates us. Among my earliest childhood memories, I think I dreamed of becoming a dentist, but this surely came after my mom took me to the dental clinic for the first time because I had some cavities that needed filling. Then I also remember wanting to be a paleontologist. This happened after the house where my dad had his workshop got cable TV, and I spent all my time watching Discovery Channel documentaries about dinosaurs, which excited me immensely.

However, I remember that before all of that, I had a much more important dream: to dedicate myself to the same trade as my dad. He was a luthier and made beautiful, high-quality musical instruments, so much so that he was recognized throughout the country and even beyond. I used to spend many hours a day in his workshop... Coming home from school, I would play with his tools and scraps of wood he discarded, making crafts and toys with them, dreaming that one day I would learn from my father.

Unfortunately, that dream didn't come true because my father grew old and ill, and I went to university during that time. However, the love for creating things with my hands, just like my father's, runs in my blood. Today, I dedicate myself to the art of knitting. I studied art at university and I feel very happy with what I do. However, I continue to fight to keep my passion for working with needles alive because, unfortunately, it's a physically demanding craft and isn't well-paid in my country.

I've been around Luthiers before who handcrafted acoustic and electric guitars, one has even taught me some of the finer details of guitar design. That was around my late teen years. I have a Fender Squire Electric remaining, still missing two strings. !LOL But my Parkinson's disease make it difficult for me to play.
I'm trying to picture you as a Dentist.
