Estoy feliz del nacimiento de la Comunidad Damas de Hive, y deseo empezar a participar en las actividades que aquí se promueven.

Por eso, estoy haciendo esta publicación que se basa en un concurso muy particular. Para participar es importante leer las reglas. A continuación les dejo en el enlace Ladies of Hive Community Contest #5.

I am happy about the birth of the Ladies Community of Hive, and I wish to start participating in the activities promoted here.

That is why I am making this publication based on a very particular contest. To participate it is important to read the rules. Below I leave you in the link Ladies of Hive Community Contest #5.

1️⃣ 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s - ¿qué década te gusta más y por qué?

Me gusta la década de los 90. Ese fue mi tiempo de estudios universitarios. Fueron los años en el que hice de todo. Estudié, trabajé, viajé, y empecé a escribir… sin percibir cansancio. Podía dormir solo 2 o 3 horas y nuevamente estaba lozana, jajajaja (estaba joven!).

En esos años hice la familia de mi vida. Cultivé amistades que hasta el día de hoy son mi familia. Brindo por los años 90!

1️⃣ 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s — which decade do you love the most and why?

I like the 90s. That was my time in college. Those were the years when I did everything. I studied, worked, traveled, and began to write... without perceiving fatigue. I could sleep only 2 or 3 hours and again I was lush, hahaha (I was young!).

In those years I made the family of my life. I cultivated friendships that to this day are my family. Cheers to the 90's

2️⃣ ¿Qué libro o película has leído/visto recientemente que recomendarías y por qué?

Terminé de leer el libro de Silvia Lidia González, título Hiroshima: la noticia que nunca fue.”

Esta era una deuda literaria que tenía conmigo misma. Se trata de un estudio periodístico con un esfuerzo descomunal para ofrecer una historia brillantemente documentada. La manipulación informativa sobre la bomba atómica, tanto en USA como en Japón, fueron escrutadas por esta periodista mexicana para revelar (con testimonios) el disfraz de la paz mundial y las “verdades” ocultas en la historia del siglo XX.

Está escrito en español. En anexos se encuentran imágenes de documentos en inglés y en japonés. Lo recomiendo.

2️⃣ What book or movie have you read/seen recently you would recommend and why?

I finished reading Silvia Lidia González's book, entitled Hiroshima: the news that never was".

This was a literary debt I owed myself. This is a journalistic study with an enormous effort to offer a brilliantly documented story.

The manipulation of information about the atomic bomb, both in the US and in Japan, were scrutinized by this Mexican journalist to reveal (with testimonies) the disguise of world peace and the "truths" hidden in the history of the 20th century.

It is written in Spanish. Pictures of documents in English and Japanese can be found in appendices. I recommend it.

En cuanto a película, he visto varias. Sugiero Historia de un matrimonio (2019) Dirigida por Noah Baumbach.

As for film, I have seen several. I suggest Marriage story (2019) Directed by Noah Baumbach.

Es una película de Netflix. Se trata de una historia conmovedora donde se muestra que las relaciones de pareja no deben olvidar las identidades individuales. Ella y él tienen objetivos personales así como creativos y es importante que el matrimonio sea una base para que cada quien pueda desarrollarse. Si la pareja no logra objetivos personales, más temprano que tarde las frustraciones aparecen.

En la película presenta a una pareja en el momento del divorcio. Él (un director de teatro) y ella (una actriz) tienen que lidiar con el proceso de separación e intentar que su hijo sufra lo menos posible.

Como dato adicional, les comento que, Laura Dern en el rol de abogada de Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) fue ganadora del Premio Oscar y el Globo de Oro, 2020, en la categoría de Mejor Actriz de Reparto.

La película nos produce muchos momentos de reflexión. Yo pienso que es muy buena.

It's a Netflix movie. It is a moving story that shows that relationships should not forget individual identities. She and he have personal as well as creative goals and it is important that the marriage be a basis for each one to develop. If the couple does not achieve personal goals, sooner or later frustrations will arise.

In the film she introduces a couple at the time of divorce. He (a theater director) and she (an actress) have to deal with the process of separation and try to make their child suffer as little as possible.

As an additional fact, I tell you that Laura Dern in the role of Nicole's (Scarlett Johansson) lawyer was a winner of the Oscar and Golden Globe Award, 2020, in the category of Best Supporting Actress.

The film gives us many moments of reflection. I think it is very good.

3️⃣ Si pudieras vivir en cualquier lugar del mundo durante un año, ¿dónde sería?

Yo viviría en los Pirineos Españoles. Hace muchos años hice un viaje para allá y me enamoré del Valle de Ordesa en el Pirineo Aragonés. Es el paisaje, su gente y la tranquilidad del lugar lo que más me atrae de allí. Pero tomaría vino francés, jajajajaja.

3️⃣ If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?

I would live in the Spanish Pyrenees. Many years ago I made a trip there and fell in love with the Ordesa Valley in the Aragonese Pyrenees. It is the landscape, its people and the tranquility of the place that attracts me most from there. But I would drink French wine, hahahaha.

Thank you for the invitation! I love the idea, Ladies of Hive. I'm a bit older than you, so I was kind of in the trenches when basic rights for women were still being seriously challenged. In my first 'real' job after college (in 1970), I had such an uphill battle to get fair treatment--that is, equal pay and equal opportunity. That battle was mirrored outside of work after I married (1973), when businesses wanted to consult my husband before they would deal with me. In those days I threatened lawsuits on more occasions than I can count.
So, I love the idea of this community.
I would like to answer your call. Time is short--especially with an LMAC challenge running. It takes me a long time to get a blog out, so we will see. However, I will follow the entries here and try to support them.
I wish you well. The Pyrenees...many, many years ago I traveled to Spain on a very slow train and spent a lot of time in sleepy Andalucia (Cadiz). The environment was seductive and we almost didn't leave in time for me to re-register for school. So, I get it :)
