Reputation Matters
Sometimes, I wonder about the length people go just to get quick money without rethinking about the possible consequences.
Money comes and goes, but when you have a good reputation, it can open a great door that money cannot open. It's been three days now since I arrested one of my staff members over stealing. The police termed it "stealing by conversion." He obviously messed up with his reputation because ever since this police case, his cunning way of stealing from other producers started revealing itself.
We have received calls from four different producers lamenting how the said staff made away with a huge sum of their money and ran to another company. His way of stealing is that once he accumulates a huge debt from a company, he will run to another distant company, but this time, he is stuck.
I have tolerated his cunning way of stealing by conversion, and he will later come up with stories until this last act of his that got me pissed off. Imagine giving a driver my truck with products loaded in it; he finished sales and ran away with my money to his village, spent days over there, spent all the money, and ran to a new company in my city here to resume his job there. He did it in the past, and I forgive him as he promised to pay back gradually. He didn't pay; he again carried my money after sales to buy a phone. I was mad at him; he pleaded for mercy and promised to be paying back in installments. He never did, only for him to run away this time to a new company with my hard-earned money, that's sickness!
As God may have it, I got informed about where he was, and boom, I picked him up with the police. He has spent 3 days in the police cell, and by Monday, we will be taking him to court, as he is proving stubborn to pay me my money. If the court finds him guilty, which he is, he might be going to prison to serve punishment for his evil act. Every day is for the thief, but one day is for the owner.
It's bad running around with a bad name, losing your reputation. Now, a lot of water companies already know about the guy and his case and will avoid such a bad egg as a driver in the industry.

Your case reminds me mine when I worked in a big poultry company as payroll officer, my predecessor committed suicide, the HR Manager, HR assistant and many others areas were simply a Den of Thieves,i became enemy of them and denounced them, they sacked me but the company later had to shut down, confirming the damages caused by them.
all evil doers deserves to be punished! they already sold their conscience to devil ..so terrible to behold their wickedness

What a terrible experience.
You may not get the funds back from this unworthy fellow but at least you got justice with the rap pinned solely on him, and the harm to your company is minimal @nkemakonam89 .

I think at the beginning you showed your kindness to the wrong person. You gave him so many chances, but if I were in your place, I might not give him a second chance. I would hand him over to the police the first time. I may be cruel in such a case, but I think very few people deserve a second chance. You delayed it, and you suffered the loss.

I regret every mercy I show him initially ,I feed him,I sheltered him,I gave him lots privileges beyond bring ordinary staff just to make him feel at home, but what did I gain in return ,betrayal ...I am so pained ! I delayed taking the right action but I have learned the hard way

Deal with him thoroughly, for him to even repent in jail. He took you for granted...so bad.
