The Beauty of Another Year - LOH #293

To start with, it's my birthday today and that of my twin brother, so yeah, I am grateful to see another new year in our lives.

Each year, I celebrate not just my birthday, but the gift of life, the gradual growth, the grace that I enjoy, and another beautiful year added to my journey in this life.

...And so for every blessing, every lesson, every closed door that protected me, and every opportunity that shaped me into who I am today, I am grateful. A new age is always a reminder that God is not done with me yet, and I have peace knowing that His plans for me are all for good.

Reading through the prompt for this week, I will say that birthdays are usually a unique event that reminds us about the precious gift of life by God, and while most people count down to their birthdays, planning and re planning the special event, I am always neutral about it.

No doubt, I am always excited about my birthday, but most times, I see myself get more joyful celebrating others, my loved ones. I am good at throwing surprises at their birthdays, but when it's mine, I will have zero plans unless someone comes through; otherwise, I don't care at all. Just ensure to reflect on my past years and express my gratitude to God.

I think I was influenced by how birthdays are being celebrated in my home when I was growing up. It's usually more of the celebrant receiving special prayers by the family members, and maybe Mom could prepare a special meal, but that's on a rare occasion; that's all, no other special event. The focus is usually on gratitude for life...

As a mom and a wife currently, I find joy in celebrating my kids' and hubby's birthdays. I could spend days planning for it just to ensure that I put smiles on their faces and make their day memorable and exciting; that alone is fulfilling and gives me satisfaction.

Ever since morning , it's been a quiet reflecting on my journey through life so far, the lessons, the mistakes, the next steps, and more. My friends called this evening and requested that we hang out, but that would be tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be a peaceful day filled with laughter, good food, very important, lol, and heartfelt chit-chat.

Overall, I love celebrating my birthday, but I feel more joyful celebrating others.
