Ladies of Hive: My Introduction

First of all, I am ecstatic to see a community built for the wonderful ladies of Hive! I have seen some posts from the community a couple of days ago and when my friend @jude.villarta invited me to join the Ladies of Hive community, I went ahead and drafted this introduction.

I think I may have introduced myself a little too many times already, each of which written at different times and has a different story, a different side of me. I found that every time I make an introductory post about myself, I learn something new about myself. Maybe that's because that's the nature of us ladies. We change, we grow, we evolve.

I am a Mom

I started out as just a mom looking to share my interest in writing, wanting to earn a bit more on top of my monthly wage. I have shared some of my motherhood experiences. I wrote about how I felt about my childbirth and just recently when I shared about the birthday party decor we used for my daughter's 4th birthday.

Being a mom, it was a tough decision to choose between my career and my family. But then again, most of the time, we ladies got to make sacrifices and often subject ourselves in torturous situations if that meant our family will be better.

I am a Homeschooler

Even before the pandemic, I have been eyeing homeschooling for my daughter's education. It just became set in stone when my husband finally realized how the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of homeschooling.

As of right now, we don't have a provider for our homeschooling yet. We are not following any curriculum and we're not observing any schedules at all. We follow a playtime centered kind of learning.

I am a crafter, a crocheter, and a DIY-er

Thanks to this platform, I realized the passion I have for crocheting. I just started crocheting again two years ago when I made my daughter's first trick or treating costume. It wasn't my best work, but it still looked cute on my little girl. From there, I started creating more and more crochet projects. The latest was Little Shroomy and this week, I got another chat for a commissioned work aside from yet another challenge I wholeheartedly accepted.

I am also a crafter. Our learning materials are mostly handmade using recycled materials. My daughter enjoys helping me when I make her DIY toys and reading materials.

I am many things

I used to be a career woman, but now I am a homemaker. I used to hate vegetables, but now, because I want to be a good example for my daughter, I am almost ready to be a vegetarian. I used to not know how to grow a single plant, but I have experienced harvesting from my mini food forest and have now restarted another growth in my mini garden.

I am a friend, I am a mentor, I am a mentee, I am a talker, but I am also a good listener. I am many things. And now, I am part of the Ladies of Hive.

Thank you @jude.villarta for inviting me here.

Hello there @romeskie, so nice to meet you in here!

You are absolutely right, this is a wonderful, warm community and I am personally so happy that all of those wonderful, kind, compassionate, strong and genuine woman created it @hive-124452 @silversaver888 @thekittygirl @kerrislravenhill @dfinney @battleaxe @hetty-rowan @brittandjosie @elizabethbit @melinda010100 and are putting so much time and effort into it for our benefit.

I so happy to see so many more brilliant woman from all over the world joining in the fun to benefit in the richness, empowerment and sense of belonging of this community too.

I'm sure that you will lve it here as much as I do.

As for giving up eating animals- it's easy when you realise that eating them is like eating your own flesh and blood, as there is absolutely no difference between human babies and animal babies.

Also, it literally opens up a whole new universe of other delicious foods to eat.
I worked in commercial F&B for 3 decades and thought I knew a lot about food, until I stopped eating animals.

The only thing that I regret, is not realising much, much sooner and I actually grew up in a male dominated, dairy farming town with hardcore carnivores, who very suprisingly actually accept my desire not to eat animals. (now...)

So do it before it weighs even heavier on both of your hearts- literally and figuratively.

And welcome aboard. I look forward to hearing more about your adventures. 😊
