Le Pont du Gard
Yesterday we visited another historic structure during our holiday here in the South of France; Le Pont du Gard.
This 275 meter long, 49 meters high structure was already built in the first century (38-52) by the Romans. It used to be an aquaduct that transported water over 50 kilometers from a well to the city of Nimes.
In the 6th century the aquaduct was abandoned and in the 18th century a bridge was added to the lower part of the structure.
Nowadays it's open for public. We have crossed the bridge on foot and had a nice swim in the river near the bridge. And shot some nice photos off course.

Impressive it is. Especially when you walk over it.
