Another Christmas alone & abroad

In a few days many will celebrate Christmas, some with their loved ones and others like me away & abroad. I never thought I would have to celebrate this day alone, away from my family again. 2020 has definitely changed many of our lives and to some extend, I am grateful that everyone that I love is still well and safe. That is probably the greatest joy & blessing compared to many others.

Instead of looking at what we have lost, we should look at what we still have if not gained throughout this year. I remembered this phrase from the TV series; Flash .. of yes, I've been a frequent user of Netflix 😆. From Queen's Gambit to Supergirl to Arrow to Flash. I wonder what's next ? Netflix has definitely kept me company during this period of which I'm forced to clear 15 days of annual and unpaid leave. Sitting in my apartment, it's work during the day and in between Netflix to keep me occupied.

Christmas songs are played everywhere and though I've decorated my home with several newly purchased Christmas decorations such as a mini Christmas tree and socks, it's just not the same. Material things cannot replace our loved ones just as all the money in world cannot do that. It may bring comfort to our lives but not replace the hollow and emptiness in our hearts.

I miss my family more than ever during this time but I've learnt to adapt myself through this emotion turmoil and lift myself up. After all, it's just another day and I believe it will be better tomorrow. For all of you whom are like me, celebrating Christmas away from your family, know that they are well and safe as that would be the best Christmas present anyone can wish for this year.

Be strong as I am because I choose to believe that we will see our loved ones very soon. We only need to keep on having faith and trust in HIM always.
