Amazing Nature
My entry for the
#amazingnature contest hosted by @adalger
๐ธ Northern Green frog
This photo was taken last Summer.
I was pulling up some weeds in my garden. If the Green frog hadn't leaped I would have easily overlooked it.
(Lithobates clamitans)
The round disk near the eye is called a tymยญpaยญnum. It's an external ear drum for hearing. On the males it's bigger than their eyes. The tymยญpaยญnums on the feยญmales tends to be the same size as their eyes.
I'm not sure if this is the same Green frog. Looks like it could be.
I was moving some plants around on my porch when I discovered it.
It is not unusual to find a frog or a toad on my porch.
They don't harm the plants. They are looking for insects.
My cabin is situated very close to a marsh. A marsh is a body of wetland that is teaming with a diversity of wildlife.
I'm not afraid of frogs but they truly can and do startled me sometimes. It's absolutely amazing how they blend right in with their natural surroundings.
I'm looking forward to going kayaking this Spring.
Hopefully this weekend.
I'm excited.

Great spotting in your garden pot @annephilbrick. Those froggies are always so well hidden, hehe ^^ I wish you a great time during your kayak tour ! Bring us back some nice pictures please ;)
Thank You..!!
@adalger
I'm looking forward to doing some Kayaking. Hoping the weather is good.
It would be amazing to go kayaking this early in the year. It would be the first I do believe. The marsh is open. Normally it's still frozen.
:-)
what a great find :)

@apnigrich
The Green frogs truly are beautiful..
:-)
I learned something new today: tympanum!
That indeed is one handsome frog you photographed (almost kissable) and his markings are incredible.
One can see how he easily camouflages into the landscape and is able to catch his prey that are oblivious to his presence.๐ฆ๐ธ๐ฆ
Yes, frogs are wonderful additions to the garden and outdoor areas to help minimize the insect population. I for one enjoy hearing frogs "croaking" during the nighttime, members of Nature's symphony.๐ถ
Excellent photos! @annephilbrick

I'm just to hearing the Spring peepers (Pseudacris crucifer). I absolutely love listening them ๐ถ๐ต๐ธ๐๐ธ.
I think the frog likes hanging around with you. Great shots!
