Forget Me Not

Kentucky Waterfall.JPG

I have always found beauty in a waterfall. I do not know anyone that would fail me for that thought, dispute these words, and, I have yet to figure out why these powerful bodies of water are viewed as hypnotic or in some cases, calming.

I can hear these falls, thundering down, crashing onto the next level now, and I am sure, well into the night, the flow slightly changing from time to time. Over time, it wears down the softer rocks. The wonder of nature has invaded my soul. The sight, the sound, how it makes me feel, the power behind it.

ferns.jpg

The area is layered in fiddleheads and ferns, the moist air sticking to you. Have you ever eaten fiddleheads? I think they taste a little bit like fresh asparagus. Not all are edible, so it is good to know what your plants before you go foraging.

tree firest'.JPG

Look around you. Ferns are such an interesting part of the forest. So much of what I see is alive in its density, thick with floral and fauna is arresting in its beauty. Are you forest or beach, or both? I freely admit to loving both equally.

There is #alwaysaflower to color my world. Forget-me-not, I beg of you! :))

When in the morning’s misty hour,
When the sun beams gently o’er each flower;
When thou dost cease to smile benign,
And think each heart responds with thine,
When seeking rest among divine,
Forget me not.

When the last rays of twilight fall,
And thou art pacing yonder hall;
When mists are gathering on the hill,
Nor sound is heard save mountain rill,
When all around bids peace be still,
Forget me not.

Ann Plato

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

I love the waterfalls too, also maybe because growing up we lived closer to one as opposed to the beach.

If I had to choose between forest and beach...hmmmmm, I can't decide so maybe I do love them equally too :D

And fiddleheads? Yes!! (I had to google to make sure)
We can get them at the market, and we usually stirfry with with dried prawn paste or garlic ;D

Me too!! Stir fry is the best with them. I love them! I grew up in New England, on the ocean, but hate to choose! They are both beautiful!

I hope you are having a great start to your week! Thanks for stopping by!

The area is layered in fiddleheads and ferns, the moist air sticking to you. Have you ever eaten fiddleheads?

No, I have not even heard about it so far.
By the way, how do you feel, when you say/write/read/hear "moist"?
I heard that that is the most hated word for the native English speaker people.

Are you forest or beach, or both? I freely admit to loving both equally.

Me too. Although I walk in the forest more often.

Never heard that, but, I looked it up and it is like nails on a chalkboard. Of course, it is just as unpleasant to walk through some places and feel that way. I think a lot of people like the beach as it means vacation to many.

Thanks for stopping by!

By just looking at your photos maam, I can imagine the sounds of nature the birds chirping and the sounds of water falling. Amazing nature indeed.

Nature is so very amazing. I love being out in the middle of it all. Sometimes when I am walking, I get on the phone and call my sister and she cannot hear me because nature is too noisy. :)

That is a good thing, in my opinion.

Good morning from here! I hope you are having an amazing day!

I think so too maam, it's better hearing those sounds rather than the sounds of crowded life of the city😊. It's already late evening here in Philippines, well have a great day ahead maam.

They are even edible and we pick them and use them in a stir fry. They grow back if you cut them from the top. The fern that keeps on giving. They taste a bit like asparagus, but, one of those free gimmes from Mother Earth.

Waterfalls are just mesmerizing and definitely nature at its finest. Thanks for stopping by and I certainly hope that your week has begun in a most wonderful way!

Early walked today! The morning was amazing!

Waterfalls are hypnotic the same way staring into a blazing fire is. Your mind gets consumed by the motion.. other thoughts get dissolved and the falls and fire become your only concern.. A form of meditation..

Well said! It was late and I know I wasn't saying what I wanted to say! You hit the nail on the head. Thank you for that.

And yes! A meditative state is exactly right.

Good morning, Mike! @manorvillemike How are Scary Mary and the crew today? My weather says a mixed week, but, my app always lies, so here is hoping for the best of weather for us!

The forget me not flowers are so pretty! They remind me of my childhood when I used to see these flowers a lot in the countryside

Yes! :))

They were a pretty little spring flower that popped up in the meadows here. My mom had a song that she used to sing when she came upon them.

Oh! Forget-me-not! Thanks for stopping by! Good morning from here! May your week be amazing.

Waterfalls are lovely indeed. Very nice one you shot there. Here in the Netherlands we only have artificial ones since our country is flat ☹️
When I see a waterfall when I'm on holiday I love to play with longer shutter speeds to create this cool glassy effect.

Thank you so much. I lived outside of Soesterberg for a short time and I have to say that the thing I did like about it was it was flat, so riding a bike was amazing. I am a lazy biker and I have a lot of hills here. :))

I do love waterfalls and we have many here, although nothing amazing like many countries. I haven't really played with the shutter speeds but, it might be something I should try. Thank you and thanks for stopping by!

Have a great week!

Soesterberg.... It's a small world 😃
That's an hour from where I live, but on the other hand, the other side of the country is just two hours 😃

You should try it. Be sure to bring a tripod or something to put your camera on. A bean bag will also do the job if you don't have a tripod.

Have a great week too!

I love waterfalls!
The sound of water falling depends on so many things...
at times they are mesmerizing.
I miss them!
I'm booked for a flight for June of next year!
Hopefully, I'll get to see waterfalls!

You talk about nature in such a special way. Your admiration for it and beyond that, your love for it, is evident. The delicacy of your words is enough to move the soul to the beautiful and imposing natural places like a waterfall or a fresh fern or a delicate flower. Have a special day surrounded by love. And so be it, in God's name.

A virtual hug ♥

I share your opinion, the waterfalls are fascinating, the surrounding landscape spectacular. And you accompany it with a narrative and poem that makes one dream, Forget Me Not.
Great!

Waterfalls are very pretty, however I can never get the thought of all that powerful not being used to produce power. I am not one of those in favor of tearing down some dams in order to let a snail breed but that is just me being selfish I suppose.

Oh that is a stunning selfie!!! Outstanding!

It takes money to make money. They do the big ones that will really make a dent, but, I don't think they can do every waterfall as some of them only run with the overflow. I know what you are saying and it would be nice to capture all the power.

You don't want to give those blind, albino salamanders a chance in life?

Good morning from here !!! Oh, it has been days since I have had a chance to connect to this place!

Nature heals, nourishes our bodies and calms the soul. That's a beautiful waterfall there and water must be very cold.

The water is pretty cold! Nature does heal, I will agree with you there. I love walking through the forests and meadows, letting the thoughts run freely in my head.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words. It is always good to see you! xo

Your words keep growing more and more poetic Denise. Lovely and so easy to imagine you in the forest absorbing all the energy of the ions around the waterfall, being one with the ferns and flowers.

I love both ocean and forests equally. Both so different in how you feel when within them. Energized by both but in different ways. I think when we can totally give ourselves to nature, she responds back with even more love and replenishes us. With much love to you. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

if I choose a forest or a beach, I will choose a beach. The forest is too majestic for me: it delights and frightens at the same time. the waterfall is amazing !!!!

I can see what you mean by that, honestly. Most of the forests around my house are small in nature and do not seem so ominous. But a giant forest with no boundaries, perhaps!

I love the beach! Always so peaceful! Hi. @tali72 ❤️

What a beautiful escape to tranquility Denise! I LOVE waterfalls. Actually; I love anything to do with water. We are so blessed to have our own waterfall, although it only rains after heavy winter rain. Like you I freely and equally love forest and beach AND mountainside. But then again that is probably because it is all nature. And usually water can be found ....

Aren't waterfalls the best? They really are, and the fact that you have one is quite exciting. Right there on your property. Yes! Nature. I love it all and I am so happy to hear that you do also, but, as a homesteader, I already knew that. ❤️

How did you and Craig grow up? In a homesteading family? That would be interesting.

Sadly we didn't have a happy family homestead. Our parents divorced when we were still small children. We were on a homestead up until then and my memories are (mostly) happy ones

It must have been a memory that stuck well with you. I am sorry to hear of the divorce, it is never great when families are split, someone is always the loser in it, but, then again, some people should never be together.

Complicated at best.
