Spring in the middle of fall - blooming Loquats

I grew up in a country with found distinct seasons. You can see and feel when each of them starts and finish.
Living now in the south of Europe it all seems pretty messed up :p Fruits ripen in the middle of the winter, and some trees flower in the late fall.

Just look at that Loquat here. I shot those in late October and the tree was full of lowers and pollinating insects.

I stood under the tree, and it was huge, for about 20 min and I enjoyed the sound of hundreds of bees buzzing around. Something unreal to see in Poland. The sweet smell of flowers and warm sun and it felt like May.

Loquats are the first season fruits that will ripen in spring. By now the fruits should be all formed and slowly get ready to mature.

Not only bees were invited to the feast, though they were definitely the queens. Few other types of bees and wasps flew in and out from time to time. I managed to catch a butterfly resting on a leaf...

...and a fly that seemed to be watching me.

Feels like spring, doesn't it?

Hello dear friend @ewkaw good night
What beautiful photographs, without a doubt the birds made a great feast

The climate has changed a lot in recent years, in Argentina, it was very hot in the middle of winter, and very cold in summer, some paper-leaf plants bloomed in the middle of winter.

I appreciate very much that you let us know these beautiful photographs
have a great night

Thank you!
It is normal for them to bloom at this time though. They will have fruits ready to eat in spring.

It sure does feel like spring when I look at these. What gorgeous colors. If these were fragrant too, it must have been amazing.

I didn't know there were loquats in southern Europe! I've only eaten them once, but I really liked them! I'd gone to a Chinese restaurant where diners could help themselves, self-service, to a variety of food at a buffet table. I had no clue what the pretty fruits were, but I put a couple on my plate to sample with the other food.

When I returned to the table and tasted them, I was thrilled! The waitress walked past us a few minutes later, so I asked her what they were. She said the name in Chinese, then apologized for not knowing the English name, so she went to the kitchen to ask. When she returned, she said, "It is loquat!" I'd never heard of that fruit, so I looked them up online when I returned home and learned they are native to Asia. Sadly, I haven't seen them anywhere since, but I will certainly get them if I see them again! 😋

This is exciting to see the tree and the little flowers that come before the fruits form! Thanks for sharing! 😃

I only got to know them in Portugal and they seem to be very popular here. They grow in gardens as any other fruit tree. They do seem to like and require warm climates to grow. I got some seeds to Poland to plant in a pot and they did grow, but for the winter they had to be taken inside the house, because of the cold. Never had any fruits (maybe too small for that). But it was cool to see the grow from a seed.

The trees on their own are pretty amazing and can grow really big, with huge leaves. Really beautiful. I was so glad to catch some in bloom as I always missed it. I am not used to see trees flowering in the beginning of winter :p
