Beauty on display!

The morning rain left some lovely sights in our garden. This small butterfly is in the "Lycaenidae-polyommatinae" family.

A day of rain and sun and photos here of both parts!

In fact all of the tiny butterflies in this post fall into the same family of which there are hundreds of species worldwide.
We have 4 hours of electricity left and a lot to do before the next shutdown.
But less talk here and come to have a look and nature's beauty.

Desperate to get some nectar, this guy tried to swim down to the source.
058.JPG

But not to be, so he sat on the leaf to dry!
061.JPG

Looks like a "Babul Blue" in the same "Lycaenidae-polyommatinae" family.
049.JPG

Here is the same one in the tag picture as the rain has stopped.

Now for some dryer photos!

The Famous Citrus Swallowtail (Papilio demodocus) on a Periwinkle flower.

Bear in mind that the size of these small butterflies is between 5-10 millimeters. This one looks like a male of the "African Grass Blue" in the same family.

We have seen this one above and now he was drying out on a grass head.
137.JPG

Look! He even peeped at me, as I had to get close to all of them on the "Macro" setting.

Finally, two snails were so happy that it had dried out, that they decided to make some babies.
030.JPG

Amazingly people make the most babies in Fall (Autumn) and Winter and the snails were so happy that the rain brought some coolness that they decided it's Christmas. Time to have a go at it 😜
Thing is that when it is cold, people get into bed early and then all kinds of things can happen.
I am an April baby and I think that my parents were also fooled by some rain, just like the snails hahaha.

And That's All Friends!

I leave you with this to think about!

I seem to have missed your posts in the past few days, Zac, my online time was too short I believe.

These are lovely butterflies, as always, but the raindrops on the leaves and petals add a very nice touch to the images 😊

Hm, my kids were born in August, I think you know what that means ... it was a cold and snowy Winter 🤣

Tiny little butterflies have been appearing all over the garden, appear to love flowers on the weeds, perhaps the answer is there if it is green leave it alone!

Bigger butterflies are around, no rain and never sit for long perhaps with all the power outages coming our way, more time hunting butterflies again.

Birds and bees do it now you spying on the snails as well? Oh well guilty as charged both sons are February so, Boys are made from frogs and snails, and puppy-dogs' tails.

!BEER that I am now going to enjoy!
!WINE perhaps, who knows 🙃 life today!

Almost a poetic reply here Lady Joan 😄

Those little butterflies fliy around like crazy and a hit is only a luck.
You are right as the loadshedding affords more time in the garden and it's filled with wonders.
We only go to the shop and avoid the mall and of course we pop down to the beach and the mountains.
Excellent times, as there are no people around.

Those snails were right here under my study window and I took the shots through the glass.
I keep the glass spotless so that I can take photos through it.

So, Boys are made from frogs and snails, and puppy-dogs' tails and I wonder what girls are made of???

I will replace your stock here with a !BEER and some !WINE

"Sugar and spice, and everything nice; That's what little girls are made of." now I would be surprised if you were not taught that when young!

Small butterflies great speed, absolutely pot luck when able to photograph, so you had it down to a fine art when capturing these!

Police are patrolling up and down checking beaches are not used, limited seafront walks in Amanzimtoti on promenade, sports field along river is treated as a public park area, so we are out of luck at the moment it is back to the garden again.

Nah, I wasn't taught that my friend, or maybe missed the bus somewhere. It is nice however.
Yeah, difficult to get those small butterflies.

We also have beach patrollers and I cannot see the wisdom of having to stay away 100 meters from the high water mark. Many promenades are concrete lined walkways right on the high water mark and it's weird to stand on them taking photos of the sea with no other pedestrians around.

Have some !WINE

Walking the promenade, closest to us is Toti which is popular and extremely busy. Would also have to be there early all under brick work so hot as hell as the sun rises. While robberies take place in malls with no police presence, beaches are swamped with police wasting time, makes absolutely no sense.

Will spend my time chasing butterflies, far safer, also able to be selective to timing during the day. Sending smiles to Marian and Yourself, have a great day.

Ah! Toti and I know each other, as we spent some holidays there in the far past. Best would be to stay away from crowded places Lady Joan.
So many things in this country makes no sense, but we all just have to endure and take care of ourselves!

Blessings also to you guys and have some !WINE

The best way to go Lady Joan and you are roght, as we just have to wait things out.
I cringe every time that they call to meet with me and I have to make the excuse of Covid.
But such is life currently.

Hahahha so funny about the rain and your parents.
Those photos are excellent, I love the Citrus Swallowtail, especially.

Always enjoy your posts.
Hard to believe your electricity just gets shut off, I am such a spoiled American, although, we are ever conscious of conserving when we can.
Have a fabulous day.

Thank you and just some lighthearted stuff my friend 🤣

Yes indeed, the Citrus Swallowtails are also my favorites and I am doing a post of them today.
Our power development company is in serious troubly due to a lack of maintenance and corruption.
The powerstations are also very old and the two new ones that they started to build 14 years ago are still not completed. They say that the powercuts will continue unti the year 2030.

May you guys also have a good day!
