Some beautiful sights here on Valentines Day!

A Happy Valentines Day to All!

Today I will show you a mix of photos to display the wonders in nature. So let your eyes feed your minds and your souls with the beauties of mother nature's free gift to all of us on this planet.
Life is fleeting and we should enjoy every moment.

Now I am not as usual going to identify each dragonfly specie here, as I want you to see if you can identify each one. The photos were taken by me in South Africa and here is some help to identify them.
https://dragonflies.co.za/odonata-anisoptera

I saw this guy flying in and knew where he was headed.
114.JPG

Bang! One second flying and the next second sitting.
116.JPG

Can you see the emoji in the top part of this floating leaf?
A little bubble sporting a face.
352.JPG

I might as well tell you that this is an Acraea butterfly.
See if you can find the specie name.
287.JPG

A black panther here? No, only a thirsty black cat.
Of the species (Cattaneous deluxious) 🤣
140.JPG

Another Acraea butterfly on a blue flower.
214.JPG

A daring frog sun tanning in the heat, as he knows that the raptor birds are in the shade.
169.JPG

This guy below is from a suborder that is regarded as True Dragonflies and you will find him in the link above.
208.JPG

Another new guy here that will not be so easy to identify.
055.JPG

Now what kind of a flower do you think this is?
068.JPG

I see many posts sporting animals and insects that the authors have not identified. The same happens with bird posts.
So, what I am trying to do here is to show people how to identify specific species.
The link that I have posted in the introduction pertains to South Africa and Africa, but most countries have their own lists of nature's residents.

So, don't post just to chase money, but rather do quality and detailed posts for your enjoyment. If you enjoy your posts, there are bound to be others that will also enjoy your posts and those are the kinds of people that you want to attract.
A slap bang post is in nobody's interests.

And That's All Friends.

Note: As usual all photos are my own and taken with a Canon Powershot SX60HS Bridge camera.

We hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and thank you for supporting a post by @papilloncharity

I won't say anything about the cat, although it's nice to see one in your posts 😉

But I will say that I like the dragonflies, especially the photo of the brown one without a name looks great.
The flower looks like a Tropaeolum majus to me, but my app could be wrong of course 😉

That's a great post, as always Zac 😄

I just had to place that cat, even if it doesn't fit into the theme of the post andc oh yeah, I knew that you would like it 😉

Congrats on the ID of the flower, as you were the first and yes indeed, it is a Nasturtium right here in our garden. Whenever we have sore throats we crush their leaves and gargle them. An instant fix and many people eat them.

I think that mountain goats will also eat them, but not me as I am not a goat 🤣
Cheers and thanks.

Hey cool, sometimes the app is wrong, but your photo of the blossom was good 😁

I know cress, but not this kind (in German it is called Kapuzinerkresse), and I would eat it for sure 😉

Thank you and yeah, I thought that you would eat it.
I am not one for flowers in my food, but in the 60s I wore flowers in my hair 🤣

They serve food with flowers in over here in the restaurants, as a health eyeblind, but I politely search them all out and put them in a sideplate. Hopefully they will give them to some lucky rabbits 🤣

Cheers and thanks!

In the sixties I was a baby sleeping between the flowers in my mama's garden 🤣

I eat almost everything since I have eaten the sand cakes we made as little kids, and if I don't know something I would certainly try it ☺️

So that's why you still like to eat flowers my boy.
In 1974 I was married with one child. Maybe you were still at school 🤣

Yep, I also am very adventurous with my eating habits, but have some abstinations, such as raw fish (our waters are polluted), grass, as it is for sheep and flowers, as apart from pesticides, I rather leave them for the animals 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Correct, in 1974 I was still at school - I was 9 😁

Raw fish is nothing for me either, but every now and then I try Sushi.
Grass is for the sheep and goats, but I also don't eat it 🤣

Hahaha, I was 19 turning 20 🤣

My one little grandson Eli is mad about Sushi and his little brother Noah me does no touch it.
So one of them takes after me, so I think you can guess which one takes after me 🤣

Yeah, grass is for sheep and flowers are for Austrian mountain goats.

Btw. When last have you chatted to @janton?
We chatted about a month or two ago.

Cheers and thanks.

I don't need Sushi every day, but just like I have a Burger from McDonalds every two or three months, I enjoy a few Sushi 🍣 rolls from time to time.
But I have to admit that you have to like cold raw fish to be able to eat it 🙂

It's been a while since we had our last conversation. I think he has a lot to do in his new business.

It's been a while since I had a 1 inch thick Angus Steak and chips my friend and when we have chance to eat out we visit Ocean Basket. Marian has Calamari steaks with veggies and I have Kingklip fish with yellow rice. Before I soak mine with raw garlic and chillies, we share. I give her half of my rice and she gives me half of her veggies.
MacDonalds are also here, but they are strangers to us.

I can make a burger on the fire that will make you faint with desire 🤣

Yeah, he is indeed a busy man and so is JJ, but I chat with him often on Discord. Just glad that Lulu is slowly improving.

Cheers and thanks!

I had my last steak some time last year and I love grilled Calamari 😁

I believe you that the burger you make is better, but sometimes a Mac burger is nice, but of course I prefer self made ones 😉

I'm never on discord, and so I'm very happy to hear that Lulu is doing better 😊 Please tell JJ my greetings and best wishes for Lulu when you chat next time.

Yeah, with all of the price increases a decent thick steak has moved beyond us 😥
Yeah, grilled Calamari is very nice and I like to eat it with grilled Halloumi cheese.

I will certainly pass your message on to JJ today my friend.
We have been walking with him every day since she fell, but now I am giving him space, as he nurses her and he only sends me progress messages.

Cheers and thanks.

This cheese belongs to the few things I don't really like to eat, honestly 😉

Thank you for telling him. Their life in New Bedford started so good and I hope it will be good again soon 😊

Halloumi grilled in finger lengths are delicious Hannes, especially eaten with a hot chili dip.
We now have two new tomatoe chilli plants and the fruits that look like cocktail tomatoes are very hot.
Even the birds and animals don't touch them 🤣

He has not answered me yet, but I let him be.

Cheers and thanks!

I tried it and I didn't like the consistence, but if I was hungry I would eat it anyway ;)

I think I know these hot tomatoes. When I was younger I loved hot meals and ate Sicilian chilli peppers, but when the kids were born we began to eat less flavored ... and I have become used of it.

Yes, he should take his time and help his wife. That's more important, and we will wait anyway :)

To each his own my friend.

Yeah and now I am waiting to do the second bottle of chilli tomatoe dip.
I crush the tomatoes in a bottle, fill it with pure lemon juice, add a teaspoon of salt and then let the bottle sit for a few weeks. That dip blows one's ears off 🤣
It is great to clean one's system with it.

JJ said thank you and he sends his regards.

Cheers and thanks!

Years ago I used a bottle of whiskey to clean my system - to reset the harddisk.

Thanks for the greetings 😀

Amazing to think that we were once like that. It seems to me like past chapter in a book and that we now are now in the next chapter. I am now in the retirement chapter and you will soon join me in your own 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

In my case, I put the half bottle of beer down and that was it. Finito! No more! Kaput!
So glad that I did and it has never bothered me again, even not when my friends insisted.
Such is life my friend.

Cheers and thanks!

Yeah, I think that's the only way it works easily to give up a habit. I gave up smoking the same way.

Nobody asks me anymore if I want to drink a beer - they give me some juice or water and are glad that they have more beer for them that way 🤣

Hahaha, I have lost many "friends" since I stopped and only a few remained.
Money and alcohol laden tables draw friends like bees to a honeypot, but take the honeypot away and there's no bees 🤣
Only goodtime friends that's a waste of time.

Now I only have a few original friends and we seldom see each other rarely.

Just been notified that there's a fire in the mountains, so time to grab the car and to go and have a look.

Catch you later.

You will recognise real friends only in bad times, I believe.

It's too late to say take care when you go near the fire, but when you read this you are back ok 😉 Hope you had a good and exciting time 😃

Oh yeah, your belief is totally correct and they call them "Good time" friends.

Thank you for your concerb, but we could not get to the fire, as it was behind our mountains.
There is another moutain range the tees off from our range and it runs towards the east, so the fire was about 30 or 40 kilometers away from us and all of the access roads would be blocked.

All that we saw was a totally yellow sky that covered us from the mountains to the sea, but I got some good photos of it.

Cheers and thanks!

It's good that they blocked the roads, because I think you wouldn't have stopped the car till the tires of your car started melting 🤣

I have seen the "yellow" photos - never seen such before.

Part of the joy while photographing something is to know what it is.
Mind you, there are so many useful tools to identify insects, plants, birds.

The flower looks like nasturtium to me.

Happy belated Valentine's day my friend. ☺
Do you know that 14th of February in my country is a holiday of the wine and vine growers? So, here is a glass of !WINE - cheers!

Thank you and it is indeed always so nice to know what one is taking photos of.
I kow their names, but decided to give the community a chance at identifying them, as I see that there are still dragonfly posts with no identification.

Yes, it is indeed a nasturtium here in our garden. Did you know that nasturtiums originated in the Andes mountains in South America?

I will also give you some wine for Valentines day and for your wine and vine growers day.

Blessings and !WINE

Actually I didn't know about the origin of the nasturtium. That is something new I learned today.
I have this lovely flower for several years on the balcony. It grows like mad.

Glad to have told you about it's origin Lady Neli.

It is a very good plant to use for sore throats and you should Google the Nasturtium health benefits.
Also great in salads.
