A Beautiful Sublime Sunday - Geese Flocking Out of the North While Wildflowers Keep Blooming...
It's starting - the geese are beginning to flock out of the north, starting their long journey to warmer southern countries.

The picture above I took this morning and was the third flock of Canada Geese I had seen so it confirmed that the migration south had started.
Yesterday I saw two massive flocks of geese piling out of the north. We had a tornado watch on for our area with high winds in the upper atmosphere. I thought this might have been the reason for this great number of Canada geese to start moving. I expect huge flocks with the snow geese but not the Canada geese and not so early. When I saw another flock the next day when it was a lovely day with clear blue skies I knew the migration was on in earnest.

Shortly after that flock of geese had disappeared into the horizon another large flock of geese appeared above the opening in the forest heading south.
Migrating geese is a sure sign of Fall (even if the official fall date isn't until another month).
I noticed with the hot dry weather we have been having a lot of the wild flowers were going past their prime but I still managed to capture a lovely patch of goldenrod and a display in purple of the asters with a fireweed blossom among them.

I love the diversity of wildflowers we have in our area which I have showcased in some of my previous posts. I've been taking photos of the different blooms throughout the seasons to put together into a photo book of the wildflowers around my home in the Boreal Forest of Saskatchewan, Canada.

The photos were taken with my Canon PowerShot SX60 HS.
It was a pleasure to take this walk under the open sky with my eyes. I could almost feel the winged energy of those hundreds of geese! Nice week!
We saw the swallows on the telephone wires yesterday. They will be leaving soon...
The goldenrod is beautiful and you got some nice shots of the asters. :))
Awesome #sublimesunday post @porters.
Winter is here soon, time to get them wing muscles ready.
Great spot. I like them prefer warmer weather.
Dislike the cold winter when I was in Kansas City for 2 years+
There have been quite some flocks passing here too but I couldn't get my phone out in time - they were gone so fast :)
The wild Aster looks really nice .. I like how you captured the different stages during blooming. Also the combination with the Fire weed looks pretty ^^
Wow! I'm surprised the geese are on the move. I don't expect to see them here until maybe late October or November.
I love the flowers and blooms, they are beautiful. But I miss the fall in the north and the Geese heading south. Football and a nip in the air. I miss it until the geese are all gone and it turns cold:)
Thanks for a wonderful post.
