Beautiful Sublime Sunday - New Pond, New Ducks...

(Edited)

Going to get my fresh farm eggs, I decided to stop and check out a nearby pond to see if there was any waterfowl there.

Checking Out a Pond for Waterfowl

To my delight the far side was load with all different kinds of ducks, some of which I am still trying to identify. Perhaps you can help me if you recognize some of the ducks that I haven't named.

We have had a very wet year this year and in this pond there was a treed island that had been partially submerged killing the trees but making an excellent spot for the ducks to feed around and to rest on.

Once Treed Island Submerged Makes Excellent Feeding and Resting Grounds for Ducks

With the submerged land just below the surface it made it look like the ducks were standing on water

It was funny to see so many ducks bottom up feeding but showed what an abundance of food the newly submerged area was providing for those ducks.

Also close to those partially submerged trees were a band of pink flowering water plants which I later discovered are probably the Water Smartweed (Persicaria amphibia). They were so beautiful and seemed to be attracting the ducks.

Those two ducks that were bottoms up were shoveller ducks.

The weed beds seemed to be a good place for feeding as you see these Teal ducks doing.

The weed beds also seemed to be a good place to rest in -

Along with the more mature ducklings there were a few younger ducklings that were so cute.

I was wondering the same thing so I did a Google images search and I believe it is the Water Smartweed (Persicaria amphibia).
It sure is pretty and really added to the photos!
