Wednesday Walk in a Spring Morning with Feathered and Furry Friends...
I love this time of year when I rise with the sun and the song of the birds ringing from the trees.
We still have flocks of grosbeaks and redpolls visiting our yard, coming to the feeder and filling the air with their chorus of song.
Another visitor who has been frequenting the feeder and who I hear drumming in the trees is the downy woodpecker. The drumming in the trees is their mating call letting the females know they are there and also to establish their territory.

The squirrel had just left the feeder when I came close but the redpolls took that as an opportunity to come in for some seeds and they didn't seem to mind me being close making for a great shot.

I haven't taken so many pictures of the chickadee for they are so common but this little fellow came and sat on a branch right close to me so I snapped his photo. They are such cute little birds.

One last photos of the birds in our yard before we head off with Bruno for our walk up the hill.
This one is of the male evening grosbeak. I love their bright yellow color contrasting the green and brown of the spruce trees.

Bruno Waiting at Head of the Willow Lane
With bare patches showing in the bush it has bought up many smells which both JJ and Bruno have been checking out.
See if you can find JJ in the picture below, he is camouflaged so well in the bush.

I found some new beauties that had formed in the ice from the melting snow. In the daytime the temperatures have been above freezing but at night they go below freezing. This has made our lane an obstacle course for it has turned the melting snow into sheer ice and we have to pick our way around these ice patches.

JJ doesn't come off our property so it is just me and Bruno heading to the hills today. It's nice to see some bare patches starting to open in the field on the hilltop. Once that starts it won't be long before the snow is all gone up there.

On returning home JJ is there to greet us but he is getting tired - time to go in for a catnap!

I'll leave you with a close up shot of the half moon which really shows the details on the surface of the moon.

How wonderful to see so many beautiful birds and to have Bruno along with you. Then you have that cute JJ to greet you ahhhh how sweet!
I just LOVED that chickadee photo! The expression on its face... :))
Hi dear JJ, Bruna and you porters, and again i had fun viewing the pictures, and eventhough i was jealous of the woodpecker the fact that i had a green one ( little yesterday ) in the grass made me feel better about our dutch birds hahahah.
LOVED the blog and voted it in the contest
Have a great weekend

Glad you enjoyed my walk with furry and feathered friends and thank-you for the vote!
Was it a woodpecker that is green and in the grass? Did you get a photo - I'm curious?
He was a bit far but I caught him
Always find it totally fascinating how quickly everything changes when Spring decides to show her pretty face once again up North.
All the birds starting to groom themselves for breeding season, formation of water under ice makes for another sign of change giving very effective patterns.
Have yourself a wonderful day and thanks for the walk with you, Bruno and JJ who looks like a warm spot is calling loudly.
