Amazing Nature Contest: Robin On April Fool’s Day:

(Edited)

Greetings and Happy April Fool’s Day!.

I was hoping Hubby wasn’t playing an April Fool’s joke on me when he said,

“Come look out this window, I see the robins have returned!”

April 1st has always been a day when innocent jokes are played on others but I was pleased to see this was not one of those jokes.

I grabbed my trust Canon camera and stepped out on the front deck to take a few photos of the robin.

Here is the robin on the driveway looking not too bad after his long flight from the South.

”What the devil is this?”

The robin’s a bit bewildered looking around the asphalt. The driveway had been paved in the fall after the robins had gone South for the winter.

I am always amazed at the natural GPS birds have to navigate back to the same area each year.

Robin checks edge of driveway for worms. The ground is still hard from winter but the temperature is nice and there is rain forecast for today. The warm rain should soften the ground so the robins can retrieve his favorite meal of worms from beneath the soil.

The birch trees are still bare of foliage and the ground brown from winter but that will soon change into many shades of green with the warmth of Spring.

The robin gave me a little happy April 1st “Tweet” greeting and flew up into the birch tree branches.

It was a little bird talk between two chicks.LOL

The robin gave a nice little tweet when seeing me. Birds do remember people.

Many birds have arrived here too, but they should have stayed a bit longer in the south because in the next days the Winter will try to come back and we even might get snow here in town. So the birds will freeze, but not for long because the Spring is too strong already and will chase the cold away :)

Your Robins look so cool with their black head and the orange chest, and it's also cool that they always come back to you each Spring - you probably have known the grandgrandgrand...parents of these :)

I wish you and your Hubby a wonderful Happy Easter weekend, dear Jo 🤗🐰

Happy Easter Hannes,🙏

Yes I would have known all the grand grand babies of the robins. They live quite a few years.

We are having cooler weather also but, as you mentioned, it can’t last long with Spring being strong now.

Enjoy your Easter Sunday in whatever way you celebrate dear Hannes. 🤗 I’m cooking a Turkey dinner and later having a video(Zoom) call with my sister and 2 brothers living in other provinces.

Cheers and !BEER

The sun is shining here and it's hot, but only in the sun - in the shadows it's winter.

We have been visiting my parents today and are on our way home now. Tomorrow we'll visit my wife's sister and her husband. That's an advantage of living in a small country, no zoom needed, because everything is so close together, and we are not in a hard lockdown.

Again, happy Easter dear Jo 🤗

It has been a rainy Easter here and may rain tomorrow.

How nice to have a visit with your parents...sounds like a lovely Easter. . I have never lived near my parents or siblings since leaving home. It’s always been a long trip to visit. My parents have passed many years now. It’s on these celebrations it’s lovely to have a family gathering.

I had the traditional Easter dinner with lots of leftovers for another day and also the Zoom call. Most years we would be at my sister’s home for Easter but the borders between our provinces are shutdown at present. I don’t plan on travelling off Island until this pandemic is over.

Happy Easter Monday dear Hannes. 🤗

Good morning Jo,

beautiful and cloudless weather here, but it's cold and tomorrow we will have snow, they say.

I understand, and although I don't live far away from my family I usually see them only on such occasions. Maybe next year we will have big family meetings again.
We are usually not at home during the Easter weekend - visiting my parents and/or the family of my wife's sister, what we are going to do after lunch today.

Happy Easter Monday to you too, dear Jo 🤗 and hopefully the 🔆 is shining today.

The rain held off but it is overcast with temp at 6C this morning. I’ve had enough snow and await some warm sunny days now.

That’s the end of the big celebrations here until the May 24 weekend. Mother’s Day falls in between on the second Sunday in May. I think some countries celebrates that one on a different date.🙄

Have a nice visit at your sister-in -law’s home dear Hannes and a wonderful week ahead. 🤗☀️

Have a !BEER for the road.

Yeah, I also don't need any more snow, but just before they said it's going to snow tonight - we'll see.

The sun was shining all day long, but the temperature has cooled down a lot - it was really cold.

I don't have all our holidays in my head, but we have quite some per year and even before May 24 there are two more holidays in May 😃

We have had a nice afternoon, thank you very much, dear Jo, you have a wonderful week too 🤗 🌞

I forgot to say that usually we have a traditional Easter family dinner with my wife's sisters family on Easter Saturday and on Sunday the same with my family at my parents house, but it's different now for us all.

Very prominent white ring around the eye, welcoming in the warmer months with sweet song,

Inspecting change that happened when he was gone, another lovely set of photography on bird watching Jo.

Hope you having a wonderful Easter weekend.

Thanks Joan. The robins are always a joy to see when they return. They are self sufficient- always patrolling the lawn for worm and insects.

Hope you had a great Easter weekend.🐰

Hi Jo, I love your pretty little robin visitor, so sweet. Our feathered friends are so entertaining. 🌸

Thanks Angie. It’s always nice to see the feathered friends return here from the South. The robins stay here about 7 months each year and leave for warmer climate once the chill of winter starts to set in.
