Morning AfterThe Corn Full Moon

My Wednesday Walk is around the yard to check out how the last remaining flowers are doing.

After the Corn Full Moon last night, there’s a heavy dew and a coolness in the air that wasn’t here a few days ago as August closes and The Lady of September starts to prepare the Northern Hempishere to welcome Autumn.

The vivid orange color of the sturdy coneheads always catch my eye and I’m happy they are still in bloom.

Stonecrop plant is another late bloomer adding color to the fading flower garden.

The beautiful burgundy lilies have finished blooming and all that is left is this unusual growth on one of the stems.

A weed or a wild flower...

It’s been a dry summer and most lawns are looking brown. Instead of grass, lots of wild flowers are popping up and they are great food for the bees and butterflies.

As the morning sun became stronger, quite a few white butterflies, with one black dot on each wing, commonly called a small white or cabbage butterfly, were fluttering around the lawn enjoying the wild flowers.

I don’t know the name of this wild flower, often called a weed by homeowners if it invades their perfectly manicured lawns. The bees love this flower.

An small area of the lawn is covered by this pretty purple weed flower and it was humming with bees.

The Grandmother’s flowers (Mallow) are still blooming. I’ve told the story before of how this was a plant I brought back from my grandmother’s old homestead and it has faithfully multiplied and bloomed every summer.

I think this is a type of small hornet flying into the Mallow flower.

Nature is truly amazing and even without the rain needed to keep everything lush in the garden and lawn, wild flowers and so called weeds are popping up, adding lovely color and the insects can get nectar from them.

Perhaps it’s because of the full moon that the air, the energy and the temperature feels different today. The night was cooler and a lovely sunny start to the day.

Last night’s full moon was not called the Harvest Moon but the Corn Moon.

This year, September's full moon is not the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox (which is Sept. 22). This year, you'll have to wait until Oct. 1 for the Harvest Moon. source

Whether Corn or Harvest Moon, I don’t have much to harvest but a nice crop of tomatoes which I picked and let them ripen inside this week.

A Daddy-Long-Legs spider rests on the empty tomato vine.

And with Daddy Long legs I will end my #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay.

Lovely shots....its actually been a while I saw such beautiful flowers....unlike when I was much younger....I guess life happened lol. Well, I appreciate seeing these beauties....dope!
Where I am we are about to enter the dry season, also known as Harmattan, meaning there wont be rainfall for a while....and its going to get pretty hot. The weather hasn't really followed its course this year tho, we had rainfalls when it wasn't supposed to, we had crazy heat when rain was meant to fall...so much for climate change huh!

I appreciate your visit @mistakili and glad you enjoyed seeing the flowers.😊

The climate all over the world seems to be changing. We are in different seasons and I hope yours turns out to be pleasant and not too hot.

Some call them weed and some call them flowers. My father used to cut the lawn like on golf courts, but for a while now he leaves a lot of flowers grow there as they want and what he called weed years ago looks not like a small but beautiful wildflower field 😊

I can't see no weed in your photos, but all beautiful flowers, dear Jo 😊

And I can see that this is no hornet, but a Hoverfly (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoverfly). They imitate bees, wasps and also hornets almost perfectly, but they are completely harmless 😉
Actually, I try to make a short post for tonight and coincidentally I have thought of adding a Hoverfly too ;)

Johann, it is something for both of us to have a similar photo of the hoverfly for Wednesday Walk. Thanks for clarifying what it is.

Now that most pesticides are forbidden on lawns, I see a lot more looking natural. This has been a good thing for the insects we need. So many bees and butterflies are declining in numbers because of harmful spraying and loss of habitat.

Thanks for the great support, reblog, tip and goodies dear Johann.🤗

Have a wonderful Thorsday.

I thank you, dear Jo 🤗

To be honest, I have no idea what is forbidden here and what is allowed, but I know that my parents and neighbors don's use such things anyway. And you can see that by the look of the gardens and the numbers of insects and birds around 😃

Here the day began gray and wet, but I hope you have a wonderful day with lots of sunshine ☀️

Good morning Johann.😊

One never knows about the weather -. a warm rain today and tomorrow temps to reach 30C.

I think people now understand the chemicals used to keep the perfect golf course lawn are cancer causing besides causing the death of beneficial insects.

Hope you weren’t too busy working day and night dear Johann🤗

Good morning Jo,

it is very strange at the moment - it is 7 in the morning and we have 9 C, but the sun is shining and it might become a nice day ... we'll see, because in the past two days we had all kinds of weather except hail and snow 😉

People understand, but many of the big companies still don't.

My day was quite easy yesterday and I have worked over night, what means I had a rather good sleep in the office, because the night was very quiet too 😉

Have a great Friday, dear Jo ☀️

Hi Johann 😊

I’m glad your day was easy and you were able to sleep there at night. Sounds like a great job.😉

A warm day -around 30C. No sense taking the air conditioner out of the window yet. I think it’s too early for Indian Summer but it’s nice to feel like summer again. Your weather might warm up too as we seem to have similiar temperatures.

Have a wonderful weekend dear Johann😊

Good morning Jo,

sometimes it's annoying and you can't sleep, but sometimes it's nice and easy, and when I get paid for sleeping I don't mind if I sleep good or bad 😉

We had about 25 C in the afternoon and the evening was nice and warm. But if we had an air conditioner we wouldn't need it anymore 😀

Today started cloudless, but now at 8am it's overcast.

I wish you a good time too, dear Jo 🤗

A short mesmerizing walk into your garden and loved to see so many of nature's best. 😀

I don’t know the name of this wild flower, often called a weed by homeowners

We see this here nearby pond sides or paddy fields sometimes. Though the name is unknown to me too.

Thanks @razeiv. I’m glad you enjoyed the walk.

I haven't;t been able to find the name of that wild flower yet but it must be quite common.

Have a great Friday .🙂

Quite honestly our first two months of lock down we had no one touch the garden, OK going into Autumn, then and I too thought why do we pull the weeds, so many butterflies and bees enjoy them.

You really got down to get some lovely macro shots here Jo, thoroughly good walk seeing the nature all around.

We missed the moon last night clouded over and raining, needless to say I always grin since the North would have names for moon phases that most definitely don't suit us here in the South.

Cold wet day for our Spring Day yesterday was a pleasant surprise with first rains arriving.

Have a great day and keep walking @redheadpei

I can see why our moon names seem strange when you are going into a different season than we the North.😄

Perhaps you will get a glimpse at the full moon tonight. It is cloudy here so I don’t think I will see much of it tonight.

Thanks for your lovely comments and the tip Joan @joanstewart.

Briefly saw the moon last night, captured a stunning sunset this afternoon. While sun was going down watched a small bat catching an early dinner with more insects around.

Now off to cook, late evening here already, have a lovely day.

This is the third spectacular autumn post I have seen in the last couple of days. Each represents a different part of the world, and yet all show nature getting ready to leave summer behind. If you have time, check out @borjan's (from Croatia) and @shaka's (from Germany).
I think we may have the most spectacular photographers on Hive
Thank you for this glimpse of autumn in you part of the world. I especially liked the way you caught the little hornet, which I thought was a yellow jacket.
Enjoy the beautiful array of life in your neighborhood.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments AG @agmoore. Summer is fleeing way too fast and autumn knocking at the door.😒 Although September is usually one of the best months here.

The little hornet is actually a hoverfly. Thanks to @johannpiber who also had one in his post.

I will check out the posts you mentioned.

A hoverfly! Thank you. While I grew up in the country, I never knew the names of things--just poison sumac and poison ivy. But that was a survival skill :))
I love September, also. As long as those hurricanes give us wide berth.

Thanks for the beer (I don't understand beer??)

Most welcome AG. I don’t like to think of those hurricanes coming up the eastern seaboard. Thankfully the cold Atlantic waters here will slow them down.

As for the beer tokens they can be found if you go into your wallet and to the left side is Hive Engine and if you click on it you will see the different tokens you have accumulated. Beer would be listed there. You have to have so many beer tokens to pass them on. I’m sort of in the dark about how all these tokens can be used.

That's how I feel about 'real' money too sometimes :))

Lovely full moon pic! Nature is indeed amazing and powerful but sometimes a bit moody too! The earth is alive and telling us to have mindfulness lest we spoil all the best that nature can offer!

Have a nice day!

Thanks @kaminchan. Yes moody is a great word to describe nature. It is amazing but it can get moody and out of sorts just like us. 😊

So many gorgeous photos Jo!! Except maybe that last one with the Daddy Long Legs! We had them in my parents house growing up. Luckily, they didn't bother me so much but my oldest sister and oldest brother were so scared of them..lol..makes me laugh now thinking about it. Love the moon! We've had lots of clouds and rain here lately so even more happy to see your Corn/Harvest Moon! 😊 💕

Hi Dee. ❤️. Thank for you lovely comments and kind support.

The poor Daddy Long Legs seems such a peaceful insect but I have my snake phobia so understand your sister and brother. If one happens to get in the house I carefully pick it up so not to break those long legs and then I put it outside.

The weather is nuts. One night it was in cold, next day one needs the air conditioner running.

Have a wonderful Friday.😊

You are welcome Jo! I don't mind a lot of spiders since they eat other bugs that I do dislike. That sounds like some weird weather you're having there. We've been having a lot of rain and since so many plants here bloomed early then they are leaving early as well. Been a weird year for plants as well as pretty much everything else it seems. 🙄 🙂
