The Amazing GINGER

Hello Hivers and Nature Lovers!

The topic for this challenge is Natural pharmacy, and this is my entry for this week's contest!

Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

I have not seen a ginger plant in my entire life! I have yet to see a ginger plant.

Ginger is native to warmer parts of Asia, such as China, Japan, and India, and now is grown in parts of South American and Africa. It is also now grown in the Middle East use as medicine and with food.

But ginger is abundant from any US grocery. It is an ingredient for cooking.

A great remedy

Ginger is also a popular home remedy for

  • nausea
  • stomach pain
  • constipation
  • morning sickness
  • pain relief, including menstrual pain
  • indigestion
  • osteoarthritis
  • may help with weight loss
  • may drastically lower blood sugars and improve heart disease risk factors.

Contains gingerol

The unique fragrance and flavor of ginger come from its natural oils, the most important of which is gingerol.

Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger. It’s responsible for much of ginger’s medicinal properties.

Ginger tea

It is easy to make ginger tea!

Put four thin slices of ginger in a teacup. Pour in ht water and allow ti steep for one minute. You may add honey or sugar to sweetened the tea. I prefer it as is!

I have read about the many good properties of Ginger @silversaver888! Have you ever tried to chew on a piece of ginger, it's actually got bite to it!
I can't recall if I've tried any ginger tea, I'll have to give that a try by friend!😍😍😀

Growing ginger is quite easy! You should try it so you can get a glimpse of the foliage. It is an elegant plant, whose leaves also make great tea as well.

Thank you for entering the competition.
Ginger is really a "powerful" plant. Grown at home has a softer taste :-)

I did a monthly cleanse for years using ginger, Meyer lemons, raw honey, and apple cider vinegar.

I've never tried cleansing!
Hmmmm... if I drink ginger tea once a day, is that considered cleansing, bestie @silverd510?

No. It’s specific amounts of each and goes by body weight. You have to be able to fast for 48 hours to do it though. You drink it 4 times in 48 hours. It works amazingly.

Oh, I think I'll try it, bestie! I feel so sluggish at times.

According to @guurry123, it's good for colds, and @silverd510 uses to detox! I'm sure there are other uses.
Thanks for your upvote, @qwerrie.

Ginger plant was not so successful in my garden, soil condition was not right being more clay composition.

We do have a wild ginger that grows in certain parts of our country, I have never seen the plant and believe it is now on red-list in our province Natal Wild Ginger

WOW, in South Africa it takes 1 year for the seed to germinate!
I think I'll just buy them from the grocers, hehehe.
Seriously, I'll try to plant some. It is Spring and time to plant!

Yep it's very good for you. I did not know that ginger helps to lower blood sugars. My mom always adds honey to the ginger tea to make it sweet because I don't like it how it is alone.

Hahaha, it surprised me too!!!
I like it as is, with just hot water!

Great pick by @olaexcel for Neoxian curation. You can also use the ginger powder in cookie dough but only a bit though as it is too strong. Ginger is also good for reducing most aches and even fever.

Thank you @sayee!
