¿Y cómo está mi gente linda, mi gente maravillosa y creativa? por acá por Venezuela el clima esta hermoso y comienza un nuevo día, una nueva semana y un nuevo mes, parece mentira como el tiempo se la pasa volando y ya pronto nos vamos a tener que poner a pensar en que vamos a realizar para esta navidad. Aquí estamos de vacaciones escolares y por ahora estamos descansando relajándonos en la playa con el sol y la arena.

And how are you my beautiful people, my wonderful and creative people? Here in Venezuela the weather is beautiful and a new day, a new week and a new month begins, it seems incredible how time flies by and soon we will have to start thinking about what we are going to do for Christmas. Here we are on school holidays and for now we are relaxing on the beach in the sun and sand.

    Relajándome más este fin de semana realicé una manualidad utilizando el reciclaje en todo su esplendor para crear esta pieza maravillosa. Todo partió a partir de que mi amiga Romelia me regaló un jean que ya no usaba y tenía muchos años guardados. Ella sabe que me encanta hacer manualidades y aprovecho cada retazo de tela que tengo.

    El domingo en la mañana muy relajada me puse en la tarea de buscar en la página Pinterest un modelo de cojín ya que necesitaba uno de buen tamaño que me sirviera colocar en mi silla de trabajo y así estar cómoda a la hora de trabajar. Pues encontré un video de un cojín que se veía muy fácil y de inmediato me puse a investigar. Así que luego de ver que si podía me puse manos a la obra y aquí está el resultado.

Relaxing more this weekend I made a craft using recycling in all its glory to create this wonderful piece. It all started when my friend Romelia gave me a pair of jeans that she no longer wore and had kept for many years. She knows that I love doing handicrafts and I take advantage of every scrap of fabric I have.

Sunday morning very relaxed I started looking on Pinterest for a cushion model because I needed a good size cushion that I could use to put on my work chair and be comfortable at work. I found a video of a cushion that looked very easy and I immediately started to investigate. So after I saw that I could do it, I started to work and here is the result.

    Cortamos el patrón en papel, el mío mide en la parte más ancha 12 centímetros y abajo un centímetro, de alto tiene 20 centímetros, con esta medida tuve que cortar 14 triángulos y por lo tanto realizar más uniones, confieso que en un principio pensé que el jean me iba alcanzar pero en el camino me di cuenta que no era así, así que tomen en cuenta que si no tienen mucho material es mejor cortar un triángulo más ancho, si ven en la imagen se darán cuenta que pude haber aprovechado más la tela si hubiese agradado la medida. En verdad este cojín quedó bien grande mide casi 50 centímetros y eso me hace feliz.

We cut the pattern on paper, mine measures 12 centimetres at the widest part and one centimetre at the bottom, it is 20 centimetres high, with this measure I had to cut 14 triangles and therefore make more joints, I confess that at first I thought that the jean was going to reach me but on the way I realized that it was not so, so take into account that if you do not have much material is better to cut a wider triangle, if you see in the image you will realize that I could have used more fabric if I had liked the measure. In truth this cushion was really big, it measures almost 50 centimetres and that makes me very happy.

    Por suerte tenía más retazos de la tela que utilicé la semana pasada, en un principio no me convencía mucho pero ahora me doy cuenta que estuvo bien colocársela porque además es una tela resistente que va combina bien con el jean.

Luckily I had more scraps of the fabric I used last week, at first I was not very convinced but now I realize that it was good to put it because it is also a resistant fabric that goes well with the jean.

    Luego que tenemos todos los triángulos vamos cociendo en nuestra máquina de coser con costura recta.

After we have all the triangles we are going to sew them on our sewing machine with straight stitching.

    Para que tuviese un toque decorativo le hice un sesgo relleno, sino lo sabes hacer lo puedes comprar en las tiendas o conseguir videos en youtube que te enseñan muy bien, después que coloqué el sesgo le pegué un cierre de 20 centímetros más o menos para rellenar por allí mi cojín y así poder sacar el relleno cuando yo quiera y poder lavarlo.

    Luego enfrenté la pieza trasera con la delantera, frente con frente y pase costura recta y zigzag. por todo el contorno. No olvides dejar el cierre abierto para que puedas voltear. En el centro cerré con puntadas de nylon resistente ara que no se rompiera. Para decorar coloqué una flor tejida en crochet en ambos lados.

For a decorative touch I made a stuffed bias binding, if you don't know how to do it you can buy it in the shops or get videos on youtube that teach you very well, after I put the bias binding I stuck a zip of 20 centimetres or so to fill my cushion and so I can take the stuffing out when I want and wash it.

Then I faced the back piece with the front piece, front to front and sewed a straight and zigzag seam all the way around. Don't forget to leave the zip open so you can turn it over. In the centre I closed it with strong nylon stitches so that it wouldn't break. To decorate I placed a crocheted flower on both sides.

    Por ultimo buscamos todos esos retazos que tenemos por allí acumulados y rellenamos. Yo quise colocarle un relleno pesado para que me haga un buen apoyo en mi espalada.

Lastly we looked for all those scraps that we have accumulated and stuffed them. I wanted to put a heavy padding to make a good support for my back.

    Estoy muy contenta, gracias a Dios todo salió bien y trabaje muy relajada; creo que este es el secreto para que todo quede bien bonito y si las cosas son para ti pues tienen que quedar mucho mejor.
