Needle Work (08) : Hand Design on Fabrics for the Tea Table

IMG20200828070949.jpg

At present, we find different types of fabrics and table cloths in the market. Some of these are printed and some are non-printed. In some cases, we buy plastic or artificial table cloths from the market. Again, many times we find different table cloths or tea table cloths embroidered in the market. It is very rare nowadays to buy cloth from the market and make a table cloth with your own design on it. But even in earlier days, especially 10/15 years ago, it was a part of the social culture of this country.

I talked about this in some of my previous posts whose links are given below in this post. In other words, in the past, women of rural society used to make various designs with needles and yarns while working at home. But with the advancement of technology we are losing all these works and crafts day by day. Because people are leaning towards different technological products and their time is getting reduced to do all these things. In other words, along with technology, we have got mobile phones, smart phones or expensive gadgets but it has reduced our time a lot. As well as getting a variety of artificial items from the market at low prices, self-made design works is not seen very much now. So today, I am going to show you a table cloth made by my sister about 15 years ago and its design.

It is called tea table to serve tea at home. Many people order such T-tables with their furniture. Many people use artificial to cover and many people use thick cloth in the fabric. In this case, some people prefer printed cloth and some people prefer embroidered cloth. Whatever she is, I am going to show you how my sister not only enhanced the beauty of this fabric by designing it with her own yarn, but rather made the impression in it.

If you do something on your own, it will be as beautiful as it is and the affection you have for it will not be found in the work done by others or by machine. It may have taken some time to do this but it still survives even 15 years later. And every time someone sees it, they praise the sister. It's a big deal. This admiration can only be received by those who can work and enhance their aesthetics and beauty through their work.

In order to make this design, you know that first you have to take fabric in the frame and gently sew the needle. Look at the edge of this design has something. These bunches are threaded through needles and thread screws. And little by little the work goes on and the frame is shaken and taken to where the work is to be done as I have seen my mother or an adult do as a child. And it goes without saying that such work is not seen in the vicinity now. Women in the society are now busier watching TV. Besides, since these things are artificially available in the market, no one wants to do needle work so beautifully.

The biggest thing is that when such a design is embellished with yarn on the fabric, the strength of the fabric increases many times. The fabric lasts a long time as you can see its strength does not decrease much after washing it. And it survives today without any damage. Artificial things cannot be easily washed. But if you want this fabric and design, it can wash easily when it gets dirty. So, all in all, Old is Gold. That is to say.

It's really reflecting our traditional village needlework art on the design that you have shared with us. Carry on bro.

Artisanal and handmade things always have a very important sentimental value ❤️
Everything but that can be replaced.
