Needleworkmonday: Blanket Turned Into A Summer Dress

avatar

Hello everybody,

First of all thank you much #OCD for supporting different niche communities within Hive. Grateful much for choosing Needlework Community for two weeks curation.

My entry for today represents me as a supportive of recycling projects by incorporating crochet then used an old materials resulting to a new fashionable wearables.

When I was at the hospital taking care of hubby last month I hav'nt brought any of my wip or work-in-progress that week. During his sleeping time it was an opportunity for me to browsed FB, visit crochet group, searched for designs in Pinterest, read blogs and chat with friends. One afternoon my crochetist friend Lorna in Olongapo City shared a live stream link of C&C Thrift Shop selling pre-loved blankets, pillow cases and bed covers. I like the prints and sizes plus low price so, I was tempted to Mine as well.

Last week my orders arrived. Some of the blankets are good materials for wearables, Thus, this blog...blanket turned into Summer Dress. Look at our photoshoot yesterday with my granddaughter, Alexie. The blanket is king size it can accomodate us, one summer dress for her and one for me. This is the Before...

Then, the After...tadaaaaah! Summer dress for Alexie, the front...

I am very sorry, I did'nt finished for myself summer dress is still a work-in-progress. Only Alexie's dress was done this afternoon. I do not have a sewing machine at the moment, I sewed it by hand only just this morning.

Last Friday, the 28 soft 4ply indophil I ordered at Shoppee from Pam Riego arrived.

Very easy to chose the yarn colors that matched the pre-loved blankets with awesome prints. This matched closely.

Then, I searched in Pinterest. I was inspired by the crocheted baby dresses with granny square attached to cloth. I tried at first making the puff flower and 3 " granny squares. Perfect! For Alexie, 9 yrs old it only need 3 squares joined as I go.

After making the three squares. I sew the dress side then shirred the upper part of the cloth.

Then, I crocheted ribbons on the front and sewed at the back.Thankful it fits Alexie and she's too excited to wear the old/new dress.

Just until here, thanks for reading my post.
