Hello everyone!

I hope all of you are doing fine. The lock-down has been lifted in Austria and almost all shops have opened last Saturday. But still, people are strictly obliged to wear their mask upon entering the shops and business premises.

The Pillow Collection

Today, I am sharing the 2nd white pillowcase that I have added to my growing white on white collection. As I have said before, some are family heirlooms and the others were scouted in the flea market. If you take a look at the image below with the pillow in the center, this is what I am sharing here today..... a coverlet turned pillowcase.

Another addition to my collection...

I have neglected this one some years ago which had always been a work-in process all through out the years. It was one of those days when I was crocheting while watching a movie. I saw the crochet graph pattern from a magazine and it looked great. So I kept it, later when I had the crochet thread, I started crocheting some evenings as a form of de-stressing after work.

IMAG0603.jpg

I purposely left a rectangular hole in the middle because my plan was to make it a chair coverlet with an embroidered cloth in its center. I have already attached the cotton cloth that had a pre woven cross stitch motif and then kept this somewhere... until I saw it in my stash of unfinished projects. Lol, I have many WIPs, projects I have started once and when I got bored with them, I stopped and put it aside. So I took it out and thought of possibilities on what to do with it... either continue with the embroidery or make a crochet flowerette in the middle.

IMAG0472.jpg

I decided to make the flowerette and since then I have been happy with the result.

IMAG0577.jpg

The flowerette actually was a crochet as you go thing. I didn´t have a pattern, I just crocheted a flowerette that would fit to the size of the hole in the center.

IMAG0589.jpg

To make the design more elaborate and let it stand-out like three dimensional, I crocheted the flowerete´s petals layer by layer and the frame in popcorn stitch.

IMAG0618.jpg

And when the flowerette was done, I fitted it to the coverlet by means of basting using a pink colored thread so that I can see and remove it easily after I have fixed the flowerette using the sewing machine.

So here the front of the would be pillowcase was done...it was time to make the back and with a white cotton fabric, I cut the two parts made it overlapping and sew the closure below.

And now, the pillowcase is done.

Here the situation is similar, the lockdown is partly lifted and smaller shops are allowed to open. I hope the situation calms down even more and the infections will not rise now that shops are open...
Your crochet lace is so amazing. I love your decision to give the pillow case a center piece in form of a flower. I am always amazed how versatile crochet is, you can make beautiful and intricate lace or whip up a complete jacket in no time (if you use buklky yarn like me... as I am a tad impatient 😂😂)

Hahaha... I am also impatient and always start projects and leave them undone, until I discover them one day and see how many they have become. For instance, you wouldn´t believe it , I started 2 quilts 5 years ago and until now , they are still for quilting.... Lol,, two bags were waiting to get finished, one crochet and one made of fabric... really, such impatient I am... Thanks for visiting and for the lovely comments.... Take care and keep safe!

Love the flowerette @mers and button too! For the body of the crochet piece, is it using the filet crochet? Lace yarns are really fine to work with. How long did you take to finish it?
Yah, most countries are slowly lifting the lockdowns due to economic pressure although it is not over yet. Stay safe and stay well in Austria @mers!

Yes dear, the body was made using filet crochet.. Funnily, I can´t follow a written instruction, so I only resolve to graphs of crochet designs. The button is a style made by the ladies in the old days, women in those times (40´s - 50´s) have had home jobs and spinning the button is one of them. I didn´t pay attention to the duration of crocheting the filet part... but I could say that perhaps a week of crocheting 2 hours a day ( while watching TV, hehehe ). I hope this complete lockdown would end, we are progressing tho, only restaurants are yet to open in the following week as well as schools. Keep safe and healthy! Thanks and take care!
