Crocheting A Shopping Bag - Work In Progress

WIP 1.jpg

Hi All !

Today, I am sharing a bag I am crocheting ATM which is made of yarns I got while in Spain. I used the stitch called ribbed half double crochet and to make the bag look bulky, I used double thread in each of the colors.

WIP 2.jpg

I wanted it to look unique, so I used contrasting colors of grey, white in the middle and rose pink. To make it more gorgeous and feminine, I will be crocheting some flowerettes, leaves and stems.

WIP 3.jpg

This is how the three flowerettes would look like. Right now, I just pinned them so that you could see how the design would be in front of the bag.

WIP 4.jpg

If you´ll notice, I have crocheted a pair of handles that are of different colors which will really make the bag look different...

WIP.jpg

I will be putting in a lining made of cotton and the color of the cloth will be in grey. I think that is appropriate that any of the bag color is reflected in the lining.

We are in the process of moving to a new home, so I hope to have more time to finish this project. I intend to use this when I go for an errand in the nearby supermarkets or shops in our new neighborhood. You can see a tutorial of the stitch I used here.

I used to wear different colored socks when I was younger, so, love the different colored handles. It gives personality and a sense of uniqueness that this is a one-of-a-kind cŕeation.

I am American, though some of my ancestors, including a Brethren minister, came from Germany in the late 1700s. My husband's German ancestors came more recently, in the late 1800's. I do like German food, Beethoven, Bach, dirndls...and I can read knitting books in English and German. Fiberfrau was a fun name I chose for my first blog.
