My Entry For New Year Challenge: A Cross-stitch Frame For My Cross-Stitch Sports Buddies!

IMG_20201226_140706.jpg

Merry Christmas everyone! How was your Media Noche? It was good that my daughter along with her hubby came to see me for our media noche. They were only allowed to stay within 24 hrs only. My eldest grandson and his wife came to bring some gifts too for an hour only because their unica Hija was left at home with her aunties. Unlike before where kids and friends enjoy the house to house greetings when midnight strikes, each family only stayed at home to observe protocols.

Looking at my cross-stitch work, my daughter uttered with recollections on her mind saying "Mama, we were still small with that cross-stitch..." Yes my dear needleworkers, you heard it right! That's already two decades old without a frame and safely hidden among others! lol! :)

That's the original look. I guess it took me three months to have it done in off and on situation. It was slow hard work because it was done in 8 strands to cover the whole square.
The illustration is about sports such as soccer, rugby and fishing and the other just didn't care at all! My eldest son loved this because he's also an athlete. He's a good soccer player and as you can see, he embroidered his initials on the soccer ball.

Actually, I created a temporary frame using a construction board and placed it inside his bedroom. Well, after this cross-stitch frame and presentation, I will be giving this to my youngest son in memory of his only brother and protector.

To start with, cross stitching should start at the center. I measured 4 x 3 to form the box. I saw this design in the internet and it's just perfect for my plan. I started working last December 23, 2020 at 9:52 AM as per record.

It is best to have a consistent flow of stitching for uniformity.

After reaching the end, I proceeded on the other side again.

Now am satisfied with what I have done. The frame enhanced the beauty of my cross-stitch.

And finally, the year where I had my work done after more than two decades! Honestly, I don't think I will be able to do this long work again. Before, I was so agitated to finish my cross-stitch that I used to wake up at midnight and do my cross-stitching again. It was like a trophy for us once we finish our work of art during those days!

My pending cross-stitch is finally done and ready for framing. I will give this to my youngest son as a momento of his older brother and protector!

Thanks to this wonderful community. It pushes me to finish my half done projects! Lol! To these lovely ladies: @crosheille, @muscara, @marblely, @shanibeer and @neumannsalva. God bless you guys! Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to all all!

Love,

Thanks dear! Yes. It's something we should not forget but rather go back to it when time permits. Well, at this point in time, I don't think I will be able to do it again from the very start. I have a lot more you will be surprised. So stay tuned!🙂

Love your works and the stories that go with them. It encourages me to try and go back and finish some things that have stayed dormant for too long.

Thanks dear! Now I know the exact term. Why haven't I thought of borderlines! Lol! Yes, they're borderlines not frame which will soon complete the process.

It's okay dear. I got busy with my gardening too hence I haven't done my needleworks for 2 consecutive weeks and this is my 3rd. I hope to catch-up today.

Yes, sometimes we have so many obligations that the time flies by. I hope you got your garden growing and will also find some time to relax with needlework <3
