The "Tee" Crochet Ruffle Hat.

In the spirit of making the most of my break, I decided to revisit some unfinished crochet projects. In as much as I have tried finishing up unfinished projects, they always manage to get piled up due to one reason or another. It could be due to finished yarns, bad crochet hooks or even due to lack of motivation.

Today, I would be sharing with you a crochet project I started last month. I put a halt to it because I had travelled and I wasn't with my complete crochet tools. As I returned home, I decided to complete it but then my yarn ran out along the way. I was just too reluctant to go yarn shopping so I decided to give it a rest.

As the universe would have it, one of my darlings dropped by the market and got a few yarns for me. With the yarns in view, I was finally able to complete the project.

Materials Used

To make this crochet ruffle hat, I used;

  • 4.0mm $6.0mm crochet hooks

  • Yarns

  • Darning needle

  • A pair of scissors

The idea to make this crochet ruffle hat was from a friend. She saw the crochet bow bag I made with the same exact colours and asked that I make a ruffle hat with the same colours. To be honest, this combination of brown can be really attractive.

As per the friend's request, I set out to make the ruffle hat. I started by making the base using half double crochet stitches.

When I saw that the base was wide enough, I started making reductions to ensure a proper curve for the sides of the ruffle hat.

After making the sides of the ruffle hat, I went ahead to make the ruffles. For the ruffles, I started by making two double crochet stitches in the same holes. The ruffles started sufficing but they were not prominent (the ruffles were not ruffling).

To get the wider and more prominent ruffles, I switched from a 4.0mm to 6.0mm hook. With the new hook size, I made three treble crochet stitches in every single hole. I must confess that making ruffles isn't as easy as I thought.

Meet Tee🤍

Nonetheless, I finally came to the end of the project and I was elated to say the least. That joy that comes with the completion of a project. Now, I just have to choose the right day and the right outfit to pair the crochet ruffle hat with.

What do you think of the ruffle hat? Do you like the colours as well?
