Splinterlands Pack Opening (with Giveaway ) #1 "The LIFE of the party"
Chaos Legion is here, and I decided I'd like to start early: I opened my last Vouchered Pack from the Phase II sale, and I plan to giveaway some cards from each pack I open from now until the Chaos Legion sells out! Each pack, I'll briefly talk about the cards I get, and give away a card, or two, or three!
That's right, Giveaways are back! But first...:
Let's check out the pack opening!:
Obviously the highlight of this pack is Prismologist and GF Stitch Leech, which will give my Life deck a much needed boost. I have 1 GF Stitch Leech already, so I'll be delegating this one to my alt account for some bonus CP. Let's talk a bit about the cards though, just to make this a bit more useful, feel free to skip if you don't care much for tips or uses for each card, there will be a Giveaway Header at the end
Card Tips & Tricks
Normal Foil, Common, Life Monster
One of my favorite new cards, actually, for Life. Some of my favorites include Stitch Leech and Time Mage. Chaos Knight is a surprisingly bulky anti-melee and anti-ranged defender who has Shield at level 1, making her a great choice, and in some rulesets and combinations, even better than Shieldbearer!
I love to pair Truthspeaker and Crystalsmith with her, giving her a lot of sustain and armor. If I really don't expect magic, or if I think they're going mostly melee/range, I'll use Scavo Hireling as well. Of course, Time Mage and Stitch Leech are also good combinations with this card. She is particularly powerful in No Sneak/Snipe and Lost Magic, where she is an absolute bastion of defense.
I don't recommend her in No Armor and in No Range rulesets.
Normal Foil, Epic, Life Monster
A very powerful card that needs little to no explanation, she is a straight damage oriented powerhouse, with her blast ability making her even more lethal. This is my first copy, so I haven't had the pleasure of using Prismologist yet, and I am oh so excited to bust this bad girl out.
Since I haven't used her, I am largely guessing here: I think I will like her a lot with Blinding Reflector leveled to 5 in front, and a **Truthspeaker **and Scavo Hireling. She's a very very very powerful play in the Snipe ruleset, and in the Lost Magic ruleset, where her armor will really shine. As a high mana card without Close Range, I do NOT recommend her in low or low-mid mana, but she's definitely a must in high mana matchups.
I don't recommend her in Blast or Armored rulesets.
Normal Foil, Common, Water Monster
The odd one out of this Life focused pack, Hardy Stonefish is actually one of my favorite 1 Mana cards. I have a battle from way back of a Hardy Stonefish, a Scavo Hireling, and a Venari Wavesmith slaying a Kraken in low mana because Kraken simply couldn't break the almighty durability of the Hardy Stonefish. Come at me low mana Kraken players and get your $100 dollar card stomped by a $1 team, lol
Hardy Stonefish is much better in its GF form, where you can easily capitalize on its 10% DEC Bonus in most teams. (NFA: Buy 1 of each of the 1 mana GFs.) but this card is an excellent stopping piece for a powerful Water Melee Sneak build, or for a Water Ranged build in low mana. For example, I like to stack a bunch of 1 Mana and 0 Manas in front, and place Venari Wavesmith, Axe Master, and if mana allows: an Ice Pixie. There's a lot of riff raff to get through before you hit the real damage source and usually it shreds. Hardy Stonefish, because of its tiny mana cost, is pretty general: You can use it in almost any situation, with the exception of high mana battles.
I don't recommend Hardy Stonefish in No Armor or Snipe rulesets.
Normal Foil, Common, Life Monster
Blinding Reflector isn't a bad card, but he's a little underwhelming in Bronze. His armor, decent health, and low cost make him a useful low mana pick, but it doesn't solidify his role in Life. That is, until he hits Level 5 and gains Magic Reflect, becoming one of THE anti-magic cards for Life, especially in low mana, where Life has previously struggled against magic.
That's not to say he's a bad card, again: He's great in No Sneak/Snipe, and in Lost Magic. He's also a really solid pick for very low mana Life, such as anything below 15 Mana. But, as a Level 1, you will not be using him nearly as much as these other Life cards I've pulled.
I do NOT recommend him in No Armor or Snipe
Gold Foil, Common, Life Monster
This was my first Gold Foil, when I pulled a pack way back at the beginning of Phase II! I was so excited then, and I'm still excited now: Stitch Leech is a cool one, with 2 melee at 3 Mana, and sneak, he's an absolute must in most teams. He's not quite Serpentine Spy, but he's close enough that I want every GF and Normal Foil I can get my hands on! This, and Time Mage are likely my two favorite Life monsters so far in Chaos Legion, although I have plenty more to earn and try out.
I'm feeling like the first giveaway in a while needs to be a bigger one, so this giveaway will feature 3 Cards for 3 Different Players!
Upvotes, Follows, and Tips are OPTIONAL, you do NOT need to do this, but they are always always appreciated!
