Let's talk about Counterspell Ruleset this week for the Share your Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge.

This Week's Challenge: BATTLE MAGE SECRETS

RULESET: Counterspell

Description: All monsters receive the Magic Reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy monsters that attack with magic receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.

In battles with the Counterspell ruleset, all Monsters have the Magic Reflect Ability. When Monsters with the Magic Reflect Ability hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker. I think it is not advantageous to use Magic Attack Monsters in battles with Counterspell ruleset, so I don't prefer Magic Attack Monsters in such battles. But I can prefer Magic Attack Monsters with the Reflection Shield Ability or the Void Ability because Magic Attack Monsters with the Reflection Shield Ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks and Magic Attack Monsters with the Void Ability reduced damage from Magic attacks. In battles with the Counterspell ruleset, if I feel that the opposing player will prefer Magic attack Monsters, I add at least one Monster with the Amplify Ability to my team, because the Monster with the Amplify Ability increases reflected magic damage. I would also like to point out that Summoner Grandmaster Rathe gives the Amplify Ability to all friendly monsters.

  • Magic Reflect Ability : When hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker.
  • Amplify Ability : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1.
  • Reflection Shield Ability : This Monster doesn't take damage from Blast, Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return Fire.
  • Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks.

Battle Ruleset
Stampede
Armored Up
Counterspell
Only Fire, Earth, Death, and Dragon splinter can be used
Mana Cap 48

  • Stampede rule : The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed.
  • Armored Up rule : All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat.
  • Counterspell rule : All Monsters have the Magic Reflect ability.

Since the battle has the Counterspell ruleset, I thought it would not be advantageous to use Magic Attack Monsters in this battle and decided to prefer Melee and Ranged Attack Monsters. When I reviewed the last 5 battles of the opposing player, I could guess that the opposing player would prefer Summoner Yodin Zaku in this battle, and I determined my strategy accordingly. Yodin Zaku is a very powerful Summoner that gives +1 Ranged Attack to all friendly Ranged Attack Monsters and +1 health and the Blast Ability to all friendly Monsters.

  • Blast Ability : Does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster.

My strategy and the line-up of monsters in my team is as follows.

LINE UP

Summoner : QUIX THE DEVIOUS

I chose Quix the Devious as the Summoner in this battle. Quix the Devious reduces the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters by -1 and reduces the speed of all enemy monsters by -1.

Position 1: GRUM FLAMEBLADE

I put Grum Flameblade in first position on my team. Although the Grum Flameblade is quite slow, I added to my team because of his armor, health and abilities. Grum Flameblade has 4 Melee Attack, 1 Speed, 5 armor, 12 health, the Bloodlust Ability, the Void Armor Ability, and the Void Ability at level 2. Although he has 1 speed, I thought he could survive for a long time against the attacks of the opposing team in the first position.

  • Bloodlust Ability : This Monster revels in the glory of combat and becomes more dangerous as the battle goes on. Every time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.
  • Void Armor Ability : Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health.
  • Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks.

Position 2: VENATOR KINJO

I added Venator Kinjo to my team and put him in second position as he has the Reflection Shield Ability as I predicted that the opposing player would prefer Yodin Zaku. Venator Kinjo has 1 Melee Attack, 2 Speed, 2 health, the Reflection Shield Ability, the Camouflage Ability, and the Immunity Ability at level 2.

  • Reflection Shield Ability : This Monster doesn't take damage from Blast, Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return Fire.
  • Camouflage Ability : This Monster cannot be directly targeted for attacks unless it's in the first position.
  • Immunity Ability : This monster is immune to negative status effects.

Position 3: MORDEUS

Mordeus has 5 Melee Attack, 2 Speed, 4 health, and the Opportunity Ability at level 1. The main reason I chose Mordeus was because it had the Opportunity Ability because it would target the monster with the lowest health on the opposing team. I put Mordeus in the third position.

  • Opportunity Ability : Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health.

Position 4: TENYII STRIKER

Tenyii Striker has 3 Melee Attack, 3 Speed, 6 health, and the Sneak Ability at level 1. The main reason I chose Tenyii Striker was because he had the Sneak Ability. Since he had the Sneak Ability, he would target the monster that was in the last position on the opposing team. I put Tenyii Striker in the fourth position.

  • Sneak Ability : Targets the last Monster on the enemy Team instead of the first Monster.

Position 5: ASH MIRAGE

The most important reason why I chose Ash Mirage in this battle was that it has the Headwinds Ability. Thanks to the Headwinds Ability, I would reduce the range attack of all ranged attack monsters on the opposing team by -1. In this battle, I reduce the ranged attack of the opposing team's ranged attack monsters by -1 twice. Fighting Yodin Zaku is never easy so I had to make my team take less damage. I put Ash Mirage in fifth position.

  • Headwinds Ability : Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters.

Position 6: TINDERLOCK

Tinderlock is a powerful monster that can attack the target with ranged attacks and has the Last Stand and Close Range Ability. I put him in the last position since he has 9 health and has the Last Stand Ability. When Tinderlock is the only monster on the team alive, their stats increase.

BATTLE COMMENTS

The opposing player's strategy was quite good and the opposing team was quite powerful, but the opposing team was not very effective in this battle as I was able to guess the opposing player's strategy before the battle. From the first round, the opposing team's attacks were very weak, and although all monsters on the opposing team had the Blast Ability, they were not very effective in this battle. The attacks of the monsters in my team were quite effective and inflicted serious damage to the enemies in each round. My strategy worked well in this battle, and despite Yodin Zaku, my team won this battle pretty easily.

battle290420232.png

Although the battle has 48 mana, the battle only lasted 6 rounds and only one monster from my team was destroyed, while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed. My strategy worked very well in this battle and my review of the opposing player's last 5 battles allowed me to win this battle easily. Before the battle, it always works to review the last 5 battles of the opposing player and to team up with a good strategy according to the opponent, and when I can do this, my chances of winning battles, even the toughest ones, increase significantly. I recommend you to watch this wonderful battle and the weekly challenge from Battle Link.

Wow, you absolutely destroyed your opponent. That was a commanding victory over Zaku, the most powerful fire summoner.
