Teaching Myself New Splinterlands Strategies - The Fireblast!

avatar

So I've been sort of MIA for the past week. An extremely hectic week so I didn't really have much time to write. Still in the middle of a lot, but just taking out some time to get this post done!

Even though I was busy, I did keep playing the game on my phone (thanks to the mobile site!) and I think I play 95% of my games on the phone as I don't really get time to sit in front of my laptop. On the mobile I can just play on the run!

So this season I have been playing around a lot with the Blast ability and I absolutely love it! It not only does damage to the opposition Tank, but also attack the monster next in line. What this does is, by the time the next monster of the opposition takes the tank position it's already much weakened!

In lower mana games where we have to go with monsters with very low health, like 2 or 3 or 4, the blast is absolutely devastating and often takes out two monsters at the same time. I have often benefited from this in lower mana, lower health games where my monster attacked the opposition tank and the next monster in line was a 2 health monster, the blast just took that one out of the game.

But quite often the next monster will not be a 2 health monster. It'll be 4 or 5 or even more. Sometimes they'll have 6 or 7 armor as is often the case if the opposition plays the life splinter! What do I do then? For this I have come with a strategy, so that even if I'm unable to take the next monster out completely, but I'll have significantly weakened it by the time it takes tank position! The blast is also quite helpful in damaging the armor of monsters coming in, so it will be easier for me to take them down with their now lowered armor.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I now present to you The Fireblast!

The Fireblast

For this strategy, at tank position I usually go with a neutral monster as my options are a little limited from the fire splinter. Sometimes I do use Living Lava and Molten Ogre but they're both too slow. So the tank is often Goblin Mech if mana cap allows! But in an equalizer battle, my go to is the Exploding Dwarf! With it's 5 speed (6 if I use Pyre) and 4 meele (5 if i use Malric Inferno) added with it's pierce and blast, it is exactly what the name sounds like, EXPLODING! With it's 4 meele, it'll inflict at least a 2 damage to the next monster.

I usually like to have at least one magic monster in my lineup in case the opposition goes in with armor heavy attack. I need the magic to go right through the armor and attack the health. For a long time my Magic monster of choice from the fire splinter was Zalran Efreet. I still go to Zalran if the mana doesn't allow me to be too luxurious. But this season I have been using Elemental Phoenix much more! And for good reason! With 5 speed (6 when I use Pyre) and 3 magic damage and blast, it's devastating! Will inflict at least 2 health damage on the opposition regardless of their armor status! This is particularly destructive in the Target Practice rule, where all magic and range attackers have the snipe ability. This means the Phoenix will not be attacking the Tank monster. This is great because now, when it is attacking a monster other than the tank, its blast can damage monsters on both side of the target monster. When Attacking the tank, blast affects only the position two monster, but with snipe, it's effectively inflicting a 7 damage in total on the opposition lineup! Phenomenal!

Then I'll have Fire Demon as my range attack. It costs only 4 mana and has 6 health. Has 3 speed (4 when I use Pyre) and 2 range attack. These alone are excellent stats for any lineup, especially when mana cap is lower. Oh and did I mention it has blast too! Boom!

That's enough explosion already, but if I feel extra explosive, and I have mana left, I'll also try to use Fire Elemental in the lineup! Extremely fast with 5 speed and has two range attack with a Blast! Only downside is it's 3 health. It's still quite okay in low mana games when most of my opponent's monsters are also likely to have lower health and it can inflict significant damage to the 2nd monster. I'm usually happy if she survives 2 rounds. But in an equalizer, if I have to choose 1 between Fire elemental and Fire Demon, i'll choose Fire Elemental because of it's speed! If possible I'll have both!

Great post, as soon as I saw it I thought 'low mana' and for the Dwarf 'equalizer'.

It's an ability I don't like to come up against. It's especially annoying when you're playing the Corrupted Pegasus in second!

You've pretty much covered everything. That combination could take out most second line monsters within 2 rounds.

Triage and reflect I guess is all all you've got in defence. This also makes Gloridax Guardian look like a more attractive second tank with shield.

Yes Reflect and Shield does some damage control against the blast!

With Yodin Zaku now lurking out there, I had to come up with something like offence is the best defence strategy lol! You blast me, I blast you too!
