#piratesunday : Intaglio Mint’s 2 Troy oz. Version of The Kraken

” Blackbirds tend to like Shiny Things” ~ The Bloody Raven

Due to unforeseen circumstances I am compelled to change to an unplanned or mis-planned post this week. Lack of Time, lack of sleep, twists and turns of fate occurring more frequently than a Stephen king thriller.

So, from the mysterious Intaglio Mint, a small, four-person operation and business located in Denver, Colorado producing quality Precious metals products in small mintage, from the Cryptozoology series, may I present my ONLY round of this mint so far.

In keeping with the #piratesunday

Intaglio Mint: The Kraken

Reverse; The Kraken attacking a sailing ship
Legend; THE KRAKEN
39mm Diameter, 5.8mm Thick
Reeded Edge

I’ve originally slated this round and the accompanying coin below as the opening Introduction to Tracy McMillian and the Air Pirates story arc but I realize there would be issues as the scene takes place as an amateur archeologist discovers an undocumented wreck 200 knots due north east of the Bahamas. What he found in this obscure wreck answered some questions to his findings that should have made economic and maritime history.

Intaglio Mint: The Kraken
Obvers; Intaglio Mint Logo, Radiant lines
Legend; TWO TROY OUNCES, 0.999 FINE SILVER
Classification; Exonumia

The Archeologist follows an obscure series of accounts that many historians shrug off as unreliable but coincide with official denials by a private steam shipping company going far back as 1890. The Shipping manifests and waybills finally released compared to the governmental Import records indicate something rather peculiar.

The Bonus Silver coin

1966 Bahama Island 50 cents
Reverse; Blue Marlin
Legend; FIFTY CENTS, 1966
Artist; Arnold Machin
0.800 Silver, 10.37g

The bankrupt Insurance company that underwrote the lost or missing items would only have the true description on what was paid out. Items are best described as ‘Priceless’ Silver artifacts of high intrinsic value.

Recovered Ship’s logs document unexpected fog banks and magnetic disturbances making navigation impossible. But also an encounter of a beast described like a ‘Kraken’ as written in Norse folklore, others describe an enormous floating cigar shaped object, and other crews describe nothing at all but waking up with the ship stopped, the ship’s safe opened with the secret contents missing.

1966 Bahama Island 50 cents
Obverse; Queen Elizabeth II facing right
Legend; ELIZABETH II, BAHAMA ISLANDS
Artist; Arnold Machin
29mm Diameter
Reference KM# 7, Schön# 6
Mintage of 701,000

So, we have a Kraken, which are supposed be creatures of the North Atlantic, that is lurking much further south, cigar shaped floating objects, all mysterious happenings over a patch of ocean off the Bermuda Triangle Bahama Diamond!

Heh heh! Meanwhile, I’ll be off to rework that story opening.

I wish I got more but didn't have enough cash at hand. 2oz size rather than the 1 oz. so I was limited to only ONE. They don't show up in the Canadian market often and the Seller could done better if he sold them a few at a time rather than the entire series at once. (Unless he was desperate for the cash). At least i was able to get the BEST ONE of the bunch IMHO.
Thanks for the Comment @silverd510

By The Way Nurse Ravenhill I have Been Doing Some Research into Med Beds........
It is a technology that has been given to humanity by off-world ET's. A Med Bed is based on tachyon particle energy and plasma (plasmatic) energy. The soil, the atmosphere, the water, everything is plasma energy, everything in the universe is plasma energy, it's just a different form through vibrational frequency.

That saga will see the Bloody Raven assuming a new role from the Age of Sail, into the Age of Steam(punk) and the technological leap of the Industrial age.
☠️ And, thus a new breed of Pirates are born. 💀
A new crew is formed under the Motto;
"Under a Black flag we sail!"

It's beautiful to a Pirate according to his or her Lore and style.
We know Silver in itself is beautiful, but with the right theme and design will make an EPIC coin.
With everyone having different tastes, One Stacker's 'ho hum' round is another Stacker's most sought out treasure.

I love that Bahamas 1966 50c piece. I have a little stack of Aussie 1966 50c pieces which without double checking, also has a similar silver content.

Yeah, I want one haha.

This massive 1.4 Troy Oz. Sterling silver Coin from the Bahamas is my very favorite.

I understand that's the one with the Coat of Arms Reverse, I have a hand full of old Australian silver minors as well I have yet to share. Most of them from my Father's estate but no crown sized coins. So, I picked up this beauty;

Thanks @edthecanadian , the Kraken is pretty epic. But the 1966 Bahama 50 Cents is my little tip of my hat to one of my favorite YouTube Stackers silverfishVT and his philosophical approach to stacking. He longer is posting but his videos are still recommended by his Subscribers.

Yes, two Troy ounce 0.999 Silver is a great way to store wealth. And a Kracken is a cool thing to look at. Thanks for showing, Kerrislravenhill.

I would have preferred the lesser priced One Ounce as I would have afforded two different rounds but what the heck, it will look great with my Privateer rounds. I hope this seller has more.

I have figured that the entire Japanese city of Yokohama of 3.7 million people can eat a Kraken if divided out to about a Sushi roll per person basis. I just love fried Calamari.

Just kidding...

I went to Yokohama 4 years ago, it's famous of Ramen. Yes Kraken is better for calamari 😀

One nicely done round and one very nice coin you have there! Can you imagine being spooked if by happenstance your ship shakes for no reason? I would be spooked for sure.

Thanks for sharing @kerrislravenhill and have a wonderful rest of your week!
